For me, it depends on the brand.
If it's Yankee Candle, everything is wonderful! My favorites are Christmas Cookie (vanilla baking scent), Buttercream, Vanilla, Sunflower, and Honeydew (um, is food usually on my mind??)
If it's Candelite, or similar brands, I stick with the most popular scents - ask what they are. You probably can't go wrong with some type of vanilla, or apple/cinnamon.
I LOVE candles!! Enjoy whatever you get! And, if it's a jar candle, don't foget to let it burn long enough for the entire surface to liquify on top. If you only light it for 20 minutes or less at a time, you'll get a tiny round pool in the middle that just goes deeper than the rest of the candle, and it will be used up too quickly, with a lot of unused candle wax up along the sides.
