Any South Beach diet aficionados? How to survive the holidays?

I'm doing the South Beach Diet and am in my first week of Phase 2....and Thanksgiving is coming. I'm looking for inputs on a couple of things -

How do I survive the holiday? Make my own treats within the plan? I will definitely load my plate with white meat turkey and vegetables. I know that if I fill up on stuff that I can have, I'm much, much less tempted.

What happens if I don't? I don't think I'll go nuts, but say I decide to have one forbidden food....does that reset me back into Phase 1 carb detox?

I guess any general surviving the holidays on a low-carb diet would be good help, too.

Thanks so much.

I did SBD a few years ago. It's made to cheat a little. If you do eat other stuff, just decide how you feel. If you're having cravings or something, then go back to Phase 1 for a few days. If you aren't having cravings and you feel good, then just get back to a strict Phase 2. Good luck!

I also did SBD a few years ago and I definitely would not deprive yourself on a holiday. If you're already into phase 2, your body probably isn't craving sugar/bad carbs anymore so just having a taste or two of a "forbidden" food will probably satisfy you and not send you back to square one with the diet.

One word of advice that I have always followed with this is if I "cheat" a little, the next two to three days I go back to STRICT phase one.

Last year during the Holidays, I was on a diet (my own plan, a combination of WW and SB). By the time Thanksgiving rolled around I was ready for a day off the plan. So, I decided to take Thanksgiving day, and Christmas Eve and Christmas Day off from my diet. I ate what I wanted and just got right back to eating healthy the following day. It didn't have a huge effect on my weight. I made sure to keep on my exercise schedule. I think the Holidays are a very difficult time to diet. But, I think the trick is to make sure that if you opt to take one day off, make sure it doesn't turn into two day, or three. One day should not make a huge difference in the final outcome of your diet plan....

Thanks, ladies....I like the "you can do it" encouragement!

Any ideas for particular things that I should put on the menu to keep me on track?

For appetizers, which is my hardest part, I like mixed nuts, cocktail shrimp w/ a tiny bit of sauce, & cheese & reduced fat triscuits. I use turkey pepperoni instead of summer sausage.
