Kitchen Aid mixer owners I have a ? updated

I am wanting a kitchen aid mixer. ( I had no idea that there are so many) I want to use it to make homemade noodles and breads and of course the every day uses.

Wal mart had the k4sswh 4 1/2 quart on sale for $130.00 I went a head and bought it, but wonder if it is powerful enough to hold up for years of use making noodles.
What kind do you have, what do you recomend?

tia

I finally got the mixer today. I got the professional 600 Series. I also bought the food grinder pasta maker attachment. I am not sure about this though, I'll try it again tomorrow and if I don't have better results I will return it and get the pasta roller and cutter.

anyone have it? what are your thoughts?

I have a kitchenaid mixer that I bought at BJ's several years ago. I can't remember which model it was. The mixer came with additional attachments, such as noodle plates, food grinder plates. The mixer is like new. Very sturdy, and tough enough to stand up to any task. I used it this past Thanksgiving to make my bread dough, pie crust, pumpkin pies, and cranberry orange relish.

I have the 4-1/2 qt Kitchenaid mixer. We got it as a wedding present (20 years ago) and it's still working perfectly. I use it on an "almost daily basis". I bake cookies several times a week and it easily handles very heavy cookie dough with ease. However, if you will routinely need to mix double batches of cookies or bread dough, I would recommend getting the 5 qt mixer, as the 4-1/2 qt is a bit too small to handle double batches (the flour tends to fly out of the mixer, even with the pouring shield attached, making a mess!)

I LOVE my Kitchenaid mixer!

I second the earlier posts....My KitchenAid Mixer is either 20 or 21 yrs old and works as well today as the day I bought it. It was so expensive and I never would have bought it for myself, but DH never looks at prices and bought it for me. I love it and highly recommend it!

Don't expect it to last, a real KitchenAid costs around $300 for just the basic machine, then you have the add-ons.

I have my mother's and she got that for her wedding present back in 1950, and it is amazing.

I hate the 6 qt pro and it's great. I don't use it very often though. I've had it 8 years now and it still works like new. I use it maybe 1-2 times a month. I think mine was over $300 on sale when I got it. I have never made noodles though. I like the ice cream attachment. I have a friend who grinds her own meat with it. I'm thinking about getting that attachment...

I have had my kitchenaid for over 10 years and I love it. I have a grey slate color that is textured and doesn't show the dust like the shiny ones. I wouldn't trade it even for a new one!! It's great!

I received one as a wedding present (from a group I work with ) 5 years ago. I love my kitchenaid! I used it 2 times a week on average. It still works great. It's my favorite wedding present!

I'm glad you plan to return it. That does not sound like the correct price tag for a mixer that you want to make noodles with. I am on my second Kitchen Aid mixer. I got the second one because I wanted a different color, and it was at a great price. I do use mine for making spaghetti, and it really puts it to the test. Much more so than making dough for bread. I love my Kitchen-aid.

If you have a Williams Sonoma, I would suggest going in there and talking to the sales associate to get information about the Kitchen Aid mixers.

Try Amazon.com when you are ready to buy. They sometimes have very good deals on the mixers.

What don't you like about the pasta maker attachment? I have it, and you have to feed small amounts at a time, into the hopper. I rarely use the pasta attachment. It's just so easy to buy already made pasta at the store. If I'm feeling a little "creative" I'll make the homemade spaghetti.

I used it to make egg noodles ( dh's family are big noodle eaters -- I make lots of the every Christmas for the family dinners) the noodles stuck together so quickly we had trouble getting them apart. It was a real pain. I used the recipe in the booklet that came with it.

I'll try it again tomorrow and cook the ones that I did get seperated and see if we like them.

Any tips on making it any easier?
