Does anyone else find it pathetic that Walmart is running commericals boasting about how it is "opening more lanes" so your Christmas shopping is easier. Isn't that basically saying:

"We don't really give a crap about you or your time that is why our lines are usually a mile long but we need some good PR this season so we are going to hire a few more surly cashiers and brag about it."

Really, are you kidding me? EVERYONE hires more cashiers for Christmas but Walmart's checkout is usually so backed up that they are bragging about how improved it will be.

But you know, people will still (literally) kill to get in the door so I guess we get what we deserve.

WOw is Walmart popular on the boards.. Sadly I have to agree even with all their lines open and more cashiers, the lines are so horrible and sooo long. Also the store used to be such a mess. I truly always felt sorry for the people whom would have to stay and clean up..I am so glad I do not shop there anymore. Many years ago I thought they were great, but again their merchandise is so cheap and again you get what you paid for.. Peace... Catherine

Are you talking about the commercial where the cash register lights are flicked on in time w/ the music (which is "Carol of The Bells"--one of my favorites)?

I remember seeing that commercial last year. So that particularly commercial isn't new--at least in this area.

Wal-Mart, KMart and Albertsons, here, are the worst offenders for not having enough registers open.
Target and Shopko have the most inept cashiers. Heaven forbid they have to figure something out themselves.

Costco has the best all around service. Safeway is usually pretty good as well.

I try my best to stay out of Home Depot and Lowes--they generally don't have anything I'm looking for.

OH and Ross? OMG! Our store is always trashed, and never have enough cashiers. And for some reason parents seem to think that it's ok to let their kids run amok in Ross! Moreso than any other store.

LOL,The other night this came on about 15 Min's b4 me and my oldest DD was leaving to go to wal-mart to shop. When we went into the store we had to pass ALL the lanes to get to the garden center, I counted 4 LANES open and this was at 6:30PM.Once my DD got what she had came to get there were still only 4 lanes open, #1(EXPRESS) # 4 (EXPRESS) # 5( REG) and # 12 ( the ONLY lane you can buy tobacco products). So much for the Opening more lanes ).
BTW,Our wal-mart is the largest wal-mart in my state. There's 26 lanes there in the front, 2 lanes in garden center and 2 lanes in electronics. There was no one in garden center open and only 1 lane in electronics. It took us just over 10 Min's to check out.
