Are Senior Citizens More Fat Prejudiced?

I have noticed that older people are more outspoken when it comes to fat. I guess I thought it was normal my Uncles called my Nonna (their mother) Tubs??? This is not normal I have found out. There is an older man who walks around town and every few months he comments on my weight loss. When I was growing up all my old Aunts told us that we were too fat and should lose weight. The ironic thing is that they were all about three feet tall and six feet wide.
I have heard older people on TV (Bill Cosby for example talking about Raven Simone and I have heard him in the past talk about others) saying how fat someone has become even when they are quite thin by normal standards.
My Mom who is in her 70s still worries about losing weight and talks about how much weight others need to lose. When I am on a bus or in a store or out in public or working I have noticed older people look at really big people disapprovingly and even make comments.
I think one reason may be they think people are spoiled and overindulged without doing enough physical work. These people come from a time when you walked, plowed, carried things, chopped wood, etc.
Has anyone else noticed this?

Oh yes Anna.. my Granny and all her brothers were like that, I was a overweight kid, and always with the comments!

My Father did it also when he got older.. the funny thing was, he was 6' but weighed in at a good 400lbs! He and my granny would discuss my weight problem!

Do they just do it to women/girls? Because no one ever said a word to my father!

On the other side though. I was still over weight and about 18 or 19 at the time and was shopping at a pharmacy, when a elderly gentleman came up to me...he had to be in his 70s at least.. and he smiled and told me I was beautiful and that if he was a younger man he would date me! HAHA!

Edited to add..
I wonder if they do it, because they are OLD and that depresses them and they like making people feel bad about themselves to make them (the old person) feel better .. or not feel so bad about being old? It's not right to do that and they shouldn't. O

Maybe it is because if we weighed less they forsee a better life and more activities, being heavy they know the restrictions and lears that are given to heavy people. My mother was heavy and she always asked "am I that fat" when she would see an overweight person. One day I said "why? Would you like to be? That was the end of that question.

I think the older generation probably sees the younger generation as less active (be it less physical activity because of modern conveniences or more time spent in front of TV or video games or whatever) and less concerned overall with their appearance and it saddens them. The older generation is used to June Cleaver type moms - fit/thin, attractive, and "properly" dressed - and Ward Cleaver type dads - ditto....or the Gunsmoke man. So I guess I agree with you on this:

Maybe because when they were young, in general most people were fit. Not so true today, unfortunately.

I think when my Aunts say something they are really saying "you will have a better life if you lose weight. I have been huge my whole life it has caused me nothing but social and health problems I want better for you" Trouble is the words they use are "you are a big fat pig you eat too much you need to go on a diet you have a pretty face if you weren't so fat you really don't need another cookie you are so much fatter than the others"
Really once we were visiting some relatives that we only saw once a year I was about 6 or 7 the lady (my great Aunt) was offering more cookies when she got to me she turned quickly with the plate and said "you don't need another one you are so much fatter than your sisters" When I look back I was normal and not much bigger than my sisters.
What those people don't realize is that they birthed and nurtured eating disorders in us instead of making us thin and healthy.

I would say yes. Most recent memory I have is when I was traveling by plane this past summer and there was an extender on the seat belt in the seat next to me and the man sitting there said to the wife...Look here is a fat person belt,I don't need this..I am fat and was sitting next to him and Just internally laughed at that.
