Ok ladies, show us your purse!

And share A. how much you paid (if you remember) and B. why you love it (or not!)
Here is mine.
A. $98.00
B. I love it because I don't wear leather and this purse looks like it is leather (doesn't look all fake or crack like other nonleather purses) and I love the lining, kind of funky and fun. It is also big enough for my wallet, my store cards, lipstick, mints and a sippy cup!

I like that purse a lot. I am a total purse person. I have several purses I alternate between. Right now it's a Nine West black bag.
I get tired of purses quickly and give them to my sister. I am always looking for the perfect purse. I have enlisted OhGod's help in finding a designer bag at a good price. The nice ones I see I would keep forever and never tire of!
I look at the discount stores but no luck.
I also use these
SiteDelux

PURSE ORGANIZER PURSE TO GO PURSE LINER

I also am going to get this after Christmas it seems really groovy!
Handbag Organizer PurseIn from Chic Fashion
Kind of expensive but looks like it's worth it.

With the Chameleon I don't use a wallet so it's great for smaller purses and some medium sized ones. The Purse to Go is great in all sizes I got the pink in three sizes for a good price.

I love purses! I have been carrying them since before I can remember my Mom says I always carried one since I could walk.

Thanks for sharing Anna! I did not know there was such an item. I love purses but hate switching things all the time. After Christmas and the Jan. medical deductibles, etc. get by, I am gonna for sure get some of these!

I felt so lucky.

But it may as well be one of those green recycle totes after I saw all of your pretty stuff!

I have a few of them. As they add fabric patterns I add to my collection.

A. $199
B. I love this purse. I love the color. In addition, I have the matching shoes .
I like Coach purses because they are inexpensive enough to keep buying them and they are fun.

Eek! I need a new purse. I love Tignanello bags for their super soft leather at a good price, but I carry a The Sak bag that I've had for a few years now. I managed to find a picture of it on the web: THE SAK Austyn Leather Cross Body

A. $45
B. I like it because it is small but is good at keeping things organized. It has a small pocket for my cell phone on the outside back.

I can't figure out how to put a picture on here but my Dh bought me a D & G for our 10th Anniversary. Don't know how much he paid but I love it. It is a satchel with the hard handles or has a long strap. It is dark green, maroon and black. Very pretty. I was just drawn to how beautiful it was.

OMG you all really pay that much for your purse? I am sorry I have to pick on you ladies. Especially since we look for bargains ect I would never think you all would pay that kind of money.

I have a $10 walmart purse for the past 2 years. I only buy another one if the strap breaks lol

My sister in law paid over $200.00 of her purse and want some expensive one that cost over 1,000 for Christmas. I make fun of her all the time, She spent $200 on a sterling Silver trash can for her house. I told her to give me the money next time and I would spray paint a $10 trash can silver .lol

Silly ladies spending that much on a purse!

I look for bargains, etc, so I CAN spend what I want on a purse. Afterall, you carry it nearly everyday and it can last for years.

I have 3 vices. I love shoes, purses and watches. I watch my pennies so I can have these things. I will go to the grocery store armed with my coupons but when it comes to a nice Prada bag, Movado or Tissot watch, get outta my way. I am right now coveting a Movado watch Movado Amorosa Diamond Steel Bangle Ladies Watch 0605895. I am hoping DH gets it for me for Christmas if not I will get it after the holiday.

Forgot right now I have a Liz Claiborne handbag. I got it cheap at Marshalls http://www.lizclaiborne.com/product/...entPage=family it is not as white as it appears on the site it is more camel colored.

I am a frugal shopper, Even if I had the money I would not spend that much on a purse. lol I hate spending $30-$40 on My Levis Jeans as Certain ones they have are the only ones that fit me right.

I am just plain CHEAP!!! My husband says that even if we won the lottery that I would still not spend $$ on things that are expensive. lol

Ohh FUN FUN!!!

I love to show off my purses =)

I'll be back (Anna, I am sorry I haven't been doing very good at looking for you!!! Forgive me, please????)

Here is my Coach that dh bought me for my birthday last year. $327, or somewhere around there, is what he paid

It's my first new Coach

Then I have my Gucci. It is valued at $1200, paid $100 on ebay!!!! (yes, it is authentic..lol)

Here is a Fendi I actually gave to my friend. I bought it and the strap was too long for my liking. But it sure was an excellent vintage Fendi in PERFECT condition! Paid $35 on ebay.

I will have to go take pics of my other bags, someday.. lol

I agree with you about the Tignanello bags. The leather is so nice. I have a couple of them and you can find them for a good price at T.J.Max. nancy

I don't see what everyone sees in those Coach bags with the all-over print C's. Would you carry that bag if it wasn't Coach and a statement? I swear I look at designer stuff sometime and think they're really pulling a funny on people......like putting a high price tag on something ugly all of a sudden makes it desirable. I do LOVE that red Prada bag and would like the yellow bag that tessa67 showed if it was leather.

Sorry - that's just my opinion.....worth what you paid for it!

I agree completely.

I have four Coach bags, three of them gifts, and they all look great. The oldest is 20 years old and the newest is two years old. Mine are all leather and I expect to be carrying them for the next 20 years as well because they're well made classics.

I dunno how much my purse cost, or where I got it.. I think maybe my Mom got it for me one christmas because it looks like something she would buy me.. it has loads of sections and pockets in it.. but she wouldn't pay over $20 for a purse and neither would I.. because if someone ever stole it.. there would go my $200 purse and the $5 I had in it HAHAHA!

I would LOVE you for a sister! You can bring yourself BIL, and Devin too to dinner anytime. Just give me some notice so I can prepare something worthy.

As for purses I feel woefully inadequate. My tastes don't sync with my budget. I have no problem paying $200 for a purse--if it's a $500-$700 purse. LOL

I am NOT paying retail. That is my problem. We have no place here to do that. The TJ Maxx and Ross have cheap stuff and the designer bags are overpriced. The so called outlet stores are no bargain either. When I go to the ones in Bend and Lincoln City most of the prices are the same as in the dept stores.

The Coach outlet was way overpriced for sure.

If I had my choice and money was no object I would go for Prada and Balenciaga. I am prejudiced towards Italian stuff.

Silly ladies spending that much on a purse!

There is BIG difference between a $10 superstore purse and a designer bag. First of all you would not have to worry about the strap breaking. The quality of the material--fabric, leather, or "pleather" or whatever--is going to be superior to the material used in a $10 purse. The hardware and zippers or snaps or buttons is going to be better quality. If you are getting leather it will be soft as butter and smell and feel exquisite.

A designer bag you will have your whole life. You can pass it on to your sister, daughter, Mom, or niece. You can sell it on ebay or craigslist. It will be a classic style and shape that never goes out of style.

The strap will feel better on your shoulder or your wrist. The lining will be superior. Every detail of the bag will be better in so many ways.

The color the craftmanship will all be better. I could go on and on but now do you see the difference?

I love ALL types of quality purses. DH bought me a Coach purse and matching wallet, and I do love it, but, am not currently using that right now. I love Brighton bags as well. Fossil makes good leather ones, too. I just like quality.

Lately, I have been using a "purse" that looks more like a carry on bag. I just need the room.....it is like my briefcase, I guess.

I carry an $18 canvas purse I got at Kohl's.
I have been looking for a nice one but just haven't found the right one yet. I like plain brown or black leather.

And I think everyone has their thing. What they have no problem spending $$$ on. Some people will scrimp on groceries and other stuff to buy say a nice purse, while others want name brand groceries but will by cheap clothes.
I HAVE to have nice shoes. It just doesn't pay to get cheap ones. Think of how much we are on our feet! I do wait for awesome sales. I got some really cute Clarks slip ons for $20 last year and they still look nice even tho I wear them all the time.
I also have no problem spending $2000-3000 to fly to see Pearl Jam and stay in a nice hotel. I just can't do Motel 6
Purses just aren't "my" thing. But I can see where they could be someone else's. Of course if I could find one I like and that I know is good quality, I would spend some $$ on it

Wink

The only designer bags I like are Fossil same for their watches and their boxes that the watches come in. I also only only purchased my fossil items from the outlets stores and only the ones that are always 50 percent off. I have not paid more then 30.00 for a bag nor 15 for a watch. I simply am too cheap. Besides that I only like funky big hippee types of handbags that I get sooooo cheap from the Goodwill store or garage sales. I also love flower design bags, and remember I am the blue lady so I do have a collection of blue bags. I also love anything yellow or purple. Never ever ever Red, Gold , or Black...Yes I also agree if I won the lottery I still would still be the same person/Okay ladies enjoy your handbags , life is all about having something that puts a smile on your face and a warm feeling in your heart. Peace in this holiday season... Catherine

Fossil has EXCELLENT leather! One of my favorite purses is my Fossil black bag. It is over 6 years old, has been carried every year and still looks new, only it is better than what it was new!
I bought a wallet at Wilson's about 9 years ago. It still is in my purse, and still looks new. WONDERFUL leather!!!

I am all about the leather. Okay, you guys got me.. I have to go take pics of my bags now!!

Okay, I am getting tired, so I just grabbed a few out of my closet that were closest. I have a few Dooney's, more vintage coach and a LV my MIL bought me that I didn't take pics of (The LV is a fake anyway, ick, I just can't get rid of it because she gave it to me).

This is a (almost, I have only carried it once) brand new Carols Falchi Pink Python purse. Original creation (as all his purses are), but the best thing about it, is the inside He loves me! He really, really loves me! haha!!!

If you don't know about Carlos, he creates his wares for many celebrities. I don't like his style the most, and ths bag cost about $600 some 15 years ago. Just like great artists, he is considered a "master" of design (a legend, whatever). However, his purses do not go for as much as they used too, since I think his styles have become less sought after (I am guessing) or he might be using cheaper materials. .who knows. Either way, this one sits as just part of my collection. I do not carry it.

Beautiful, always in style Black Coach Willis Briefcase bag. I love this purse. Always a classic. I have owned two.

My beloved Fossil. Still looks new even after so much wear. The leather has just gotten better and better with age.

Cutesy Kathy Van Zeeland. I've never worn it..lol I'm a little too reserved for this bag, but it bears my name, so..had to have it..lol

Another Coach. I REALLY love this Bleecker style!! It is BEAUTIFUL and the leather is just unbelieveable. I love the tattersall lining more than anything else. Again, I have never worn this one either.
What I really want next is the larger exact version of this. I can already see me adding this to my want list for my Bday coming up!

There is a Coach outlet not too far from me (about an hour and a half in the Dells, WI). Maybe a trip is due

I do not spend a lot on my purses. I believe in getting quality for as little as possible. I do not, and will not pay praice tag for a purse (exception was the one my dh bought me for my bday).
Total cost I paid for all of these bags: $387

I don't have a picture of mine, but it was 3.99 at the thrift center . It's a good purse and the straps are comfy for me. I also have another purse I got for 1.99 and it has held up and still going strong after 3 years (still looks brand new ). So much for em 300.00 purses, I can say my 1.99 has held up and still going strong 3 years later I can find better stuff to spend the other 298.00 on

It's funny this came up. My good friend came over today and showed me her new Coach purse. A lady she works with son is somehow in the purse industry. Anyway, she was selling the samples he gave to her. My friend got her purse for $80. It's definitely real and it still has the $398 price tag on it. I scolded her for not giving me the heads up on the purses. . .lol!

The purse I'm carrying now is a Coach knockoff. It looks pretty much like this one.

OMG! I bought a purse at an estate sale for $1 once and I LOVED it. Well my cousin is a cobbler. He works for Nordstrom's repairing shoes and purses. And when he saw it he told me it was a vintage Coach. Now Ohhgodd posted the pic of it! It's this one:

Dang I really want another quality purse like that one. I just don't want to pay over $100. I don't think I'll be able to find another Coach for $1 now that they are a household name.

Well, now you got me. As my husband would say in our 30 some years of marriage I probably had 5 purses that I got for nothing. Then my 25 year old daughter got her first Coach purse. It was ok until she bought her second one at an outlet in our area for $65. I really liked that one. So then we were going on a cruise. I bought a tradition brown regular size one for $50 in St. Thomas. I also found two smaller purses for $15 each (I am giving them to my daughter in laws). Then in Porto Rico at their outlet store I found the one my daughter got (the $65 one) and bought 3 wristlets for $25, ( I gave that one to my daughter because it matched her purse ) $20 and $15. Then I went to Wisconsin to their outlet and bought two leather purses, one for $40 and one for $65. So I got 9 purses for the price of one and had 3 presents too.

read, that is exactly how this addiction starts out. Slow.. just with your first one.. then the next thing you know you are looking for a help group somewhere. lol

Hambirg: One word "Ebay". You can pick up some very nice Willis bags on there. Some are vintage, some are new (Coach just started selling the Willis Station bag via catalog only by popular demand). The style number is 9927. I have bought both of my Willis bags on Ebay. Just be aware of what to look for in a counterfeit. You don't want to end up being scammed and carrying a fake when you paid top "used" dollar for what you thought was a Coach. Make sure you arm yourself with how to tell a fake Coach from a real Coach. You'd be surprised how good the counterfeiters are.
http://reviews.ebay.com/How-to-spot-...00000000839005

But, never, ever pay full price for a designer bag! Ever! The joy in this collection that I have is the fact that I paid just about as much as I would have buying a bag, with no resale value, at a department store.

On another note: Does anyone know what kind of leather conditioner to use for Calf Skin? My Gucci really needs to be conditioned bad. I am horrible about keeping up and conditioning my purses.

Yep. Of course I only have the one Prada (for now ) but I have wanted a Prada handbag for as long as I can remember. Every year I'd tell myself I was going to buy one with my Christmas bonus, but then would feel guilty and just put it in the checking account. Last year tho I decided I DESERVED a nice bag, and went ahead and bought it. Couldn't pass up the deal I got. I told dh what I paid for it and his reaction was "you paid $235 for a (*^&*% purse?" I said "yes I did cuz you don't have any problem spending $$$$$ for a (*^(*&%(* gun. That shut him up.

What everyone who is shaking their heads need to remember is that everyone has their vices. We all have (or should anyway) have something that we will not falter on paying top dollar for (whether it is a name brand food item, a brand of shoe, etc etc) or we might have our Hobbies that others do not understand why you would pay so much money to engage in.

This is something that happens to belong in the hobby list for many women, so many share the same feelings towards designer handbags. This is probably one of the one things that I will not falter on as far as quality. I enjoy this "hobby" and it is the thrill of the hunt that I love the most.

If you do not have something that you splurge on yourself with, you should. You deserve to be "spoiled" every now and then. If that something turns into a collection, well that is even better!! lol!!

cj: I don't particularly care for the signature fabric either. But out of all of the designs that I had to choose from that day in the store, this one was (believe it or not) the most stylish and sophisticated. I wanted the large flap bleecker REALLY bad, but it was almost $500 (with tax). I could NOT do that to my husband when he was being so generous. I will get it some day, it just wasn't practical for me to ask for that at that time. But ultimately, the piece de resistance is all leather.

Read52: I LOVE Prada!!! One day *sigh* I will get one.. it is on my "to do" list (along with a doctor bag by LV)..lol Your bag is absolutely beautiful. Prada leather is DELICIOUS! Have you ever thought about trying their shoes? They are amazing..absolutely amazing...

eta: DANG IT!!!! I am doing some searching for Anna, and OMG.. I just found a purse I am in love with. I KNEW that was going to happen when I started searching for her.. lol What a great deal, what a gorgeous bag!! ARGH!!!!! *just step away, Kathy, back up slowly and then RUN* I am saying over and over "need money for cali, need money for cali, don't need handbag". OMG.. what a sickness! lol!!!!

Anna, it's all your fault!!! I hope you buy that bag!! And when you get done with it, I will buy it from you..haha.

I have this Coach in a lighter tan color from 1988:
and this one that I purchased in about 1991:

I don't carry the smaller one anymore -- it feels dated to me even though it's a classic. I use the black and brown one once in a while but my everyday purses are Vera Bradley. My sister gets them for me dirt cheap and I have a ton of them. Back to the Coach -- does anyone know what style this one is? I tried looking it up but didn't have any luck. The little Coach was a gift from DH and the bigger one I got from a friend who had a friend who had a son whe worked for Coach -- got if for about $98 which was half price at the time.

I'm still in the "here mom, put this gross disgusting (fill in the blank) in your purse for me" stage so expensive bags are not for me at this stage of my life.

Does the Bag have a Coach creed on the inside pocket? If so, the registration number will have the style number of the bag on it. The last numbers after the dash will be the style number. Try doing the drill down to see if you can come up with the style. If this doesn't work, call Coach directly 1-800-444-3611, give them your registration number, and I think (they used to do this anyway) they will tell you if it is a real Coach or not and will tell you what style it is, when it was made, where it was made, etc.

COACH drill down tool information:

The drill down tool is incredibly useful. However, please note that not all styles can be found with the drill down tool AND not all colors of a particular style are found on the drill down tool. Nonetheless, it can a very helpful quick reference to see if the style number actually matches the style COACH sold.

Say you are looking at COACH Signature Resort Totes. The creed patch reads H04Q 7070. Take the following text and replace the asterisks***with the second portion of the style number (after the hyphen, in this case 7070) http : //www.coach.com/assets/product_images/drilldown1/****_d1.jpg without spaces and you will have constructed a link for quick research. For instance the sample of the Signature Resort Tote referenced above is: http : //www.coach.com/assets/product_images/drilldown1/7070_d1.jpg (again no spaces in the http area)

Be aware that if the purse that comes up does not look like yours, that you most likely have a counterfeit.

I just got a Dooney & Bourke Medium Chiara Bag in black patent leather. It's gorgeous and I love it! It normally costs $345 but I got it at the Px where it is around $295 and also when they had all D&B bags on sale for 25 percent off. It was a birthday present from hubby. I also have a Fendi bag he got for me in Kuwait, another D&B that I got for free by cashing in points on our credit/debit card, and tons of other no-name brand bags that I love. I love classic styles but also have a cool boho style bag that I get tons of compliments on and it may have cost $15.

Ok I found a picture of mine finally. It is here
RAFFAELLO NETWORK - Details

DH bought this for me for our 10th Anniversary and said I will have to carry it for at least 10 years. I went to look at a LV and I really did not like the look of it. I looked across the store and saw this D & G and fell in love with it.
Purses (designer) are my only vice. I do not like jewelry, shoes or clothes. So really I see it as nothing different than DH buying me an expensive piece of jewelry, but I don't wear it so it was something I would use instead and everyday.

Thanks for the info. Both bags have registration numbers. I have no doubt that the smaller one is authentic but now I'm wondering about the larger one. It is very high quality leather and looks, ffels, smells like it should but I just don't know since I got it from a friend. The # on it is:043-6124 I'm trying this and I must be doing something wrong. I followed your directions and it took me to a google page. I copied and pasted your example to see if it would work and it also took me to a google page. Maybe I'll just call them. Thanks again

In my experience, I don't think that the first three letters of Coach Serial numbers begin with all numbers.. but I could be wrong, and it could have been totally different with the vintage styles. Unless the first number is not a zero, but rather an alphabetical "O". My vintage coach purses begin with a Letter then two numbers. Like M40-9927.

I tried looking for you but had no luck. I sent you a PM with a further resource you could use to get a definitive answer.

You could also use Caroldiva.com, pay $5, and have it authenticated. She is wonderful to work with and very fast!

I went to Macy's yesterday ("everything's better at Macy's we're known as the quality store-hey") they are having friends and family this week up to the 17th so it's 20% additional off on everything even clearance you just need the coupon.
Handbags & Accessories - Sale - Macy's
There is a code on the website

I got this bag there yesterday for $34. I love it it's so cute. I love the Red by Marc Ecko it's so soft and the red lining is beautiful. It had a tiny little red envelope in it with a tiny little note inside.
Marc Ecko Ecko Red Aimee Snake Embossed Large Satchel Bag Compare Prices

And my plain old Nine West hobo bag that I bought for $25.99 at TJ Maxx is at Macy's clearanced to $50 something from $79! And it's not even leather. I mean it's cute but a Nine West nonleather bag for $79? People must be ignorant to sales, specials, discounts, the internet, etc.
Finally found a picture of it online

This is 70% off

NO I didn't mean for it to sound rude, Just funny!

I think it is funny when people spend a lot of money on things. I am just not like that. I am not materialistic at all and never have been, There is nothing wrong if people what to spend a lot of money on things that they want. It is their money, I just wouldn't if I have a lot of money or not. I couldn't see myself spending that much on anything!

Actually, I was just thinking about putting it up on ebay. I want to get the other purse I really want.. the same style but the bigger bag Bleecker 11419. Love it! It's hard to find the wine color in the larger bag, and I have found one. It's used, but I could care less! It's also quite a bit more than I would have thought the asking price would be for a used bag.. it's a little more than the new ones are going for in the other colors! But that is to be expected with a rare color.

The Coach you like up above, the original price is $258..still has price tag attached. I think I paid $110 (I just looked and it was $109.74). If you are interested.. let me know!
Here is an auction for it that I came across when trying to look it up for you:
http://auctions.overstock.com/item/43546131

The approx.dimensions are: 9.25" (L) 6.5" (H) 3" (D)
You would carry either by hand or over your shoulder and it would fit snug to your shoulder (like it is almost up into your armpit, but not quite).
It is from the 2008 Collection. Was sold out in all stores quickly upon release. Was hard to find this color anywhere (just like he larger one that I have wanted for over a year).
It is constructed of water and stain resistant smooth soft leather in a very pretty wine color.
The leather front closes securely by a hidden magnetic snap under the front buckle accent.
The front flap has Coach's original Horse and Buggy Logo Embossed along with the Traditonal Coach Logo.
The leather shoulder strap has a 7.5" drop and there is an oversized Coach leather hangtag
The interior features: Coach Leather Autenticity Patch on Pocket, Large Roomy Interior with the Coach Tattersall silky lining. These is a large zip pocket with two multifunction pockets (cell phone pockets).
There are two extra slip pockets, one in the front under the buckle accent flap and one on the back of the bag.
Be aware, that this leather scratches easily, even when it was at the Coach counters, the SA's would say that it tends to scratch easier than other leathers. This IS NOT A PROBLEM however, because it indicitive to the Vintage leather that has been used (exquisite!), and you just have to accept it for what it is. It does buff out easily, though. To me, it gives it character!
This one, however, has been in the dust bag ever since purchased, except for pictures, so it does not have any marks at all. and if it's wear is indicitive of my Vintage Coaches that I have.. I would much rather have the vintage leather ANY DAY rather tthan the leather they are using now.
I just wanted you, or anyone that is interested in this style of purse, to be aware of that. It is incredibly luscious! I hope they make something like this again.
Some opinions on the bag can be read here:
http://forum.purseblog.com/coach/opi...ap-378673.html

Okay, I better stop before I get in trouble.. I feel like I am having an auction here!! haha! Sorry! But I really do love talking about purses.. whether mine or not! LOL!!!!

My husband would NEVER buy me a purse for two reasons: he would not know which one to buy and if he did he would faint at the retail price and would have no idea how to get it cheaper without asking me. LOL
I am hoping there will be a nice designer purse under the tree all right but I will be buying it myself! And I am open minded I am looking for a good quality leather designer bag at almost free now that is not aksing TOO much is it?
