. . . birth control pills or IUDS or condoms?

Just wondering what other people are using . . . since everyone is having sex all the time 24/7 except me and hubby . . .

I never liked birth control pills and I don't want to get any of the stated side effects with birth control pills since I use to smoke . . . and I never trusted IUDs so we used condoms every time against hubbies wishes, he hates them.

Just wondering . . .

Vasectomy. DH did not want more kids after we had DD and DS.

Vasectomy here, birth control pills before that (never condoms, yuk) however, I did get pregnant w/ dd just after my dh's vasectomy and while I was still on birth control pills so go figure!

Vasectomy as well, after three sons. For those of you who know me, yes, we have four sons. Our timing was a bit off....Story of my life! lol...

The pill before kids, a diaphram after the first three kids followed by a vasectomy, then two more kids conceived using donor insemination and finally a hysterectomy. This factory is closed down, too :-)

I used the pill before 1st son and for 18 months after I had him. Then nothing for the long 8 years we tried to have second son. I told the Dr. at my 6 week check up I didn't need birth controll because we only got pregnant with the help of the infertility clinic plus I was almost 40. Those were my famous last words. I got pregnant again when my second son was 5 months old. Then I had my tubes tied and 5 years later a hysterectomy. I love my hysterectomy. I think you should be able to ask for one once you are done having children. LOL

Dh took care of that, so no worries here. I am 45 If I truly had to worry about becoming pregnant at my age, omg my elsest will be 23.I tried birth control pills after my dd Caitlin was born, however too many migranes and was so worried about the side effect. Know I have another question while we are on the subject, since my kids are older and its seems like there are always teenagers here and friends sleeping over between the younger 2, how does anyone else here deal with the time frame to fit in love making, Honestly me and my dh have to make some special timing and planning. So any advice I am all ears. There are some times when we hear them talking and they will say that they all have plans. Me and my dh look at each other and we know we must take advantage of the so precious time. Okay so kindly share peace.. Catherine

Also to Annadrose I loved your answer, the factory is closed. I am coming close to my factory closing as well. For the past year my period has been so irregular and my gyno told me with my history and feelings that I am pre memopausol, however he did say it could take up to 2 full years to completely stop. Well I have one year under my belt and it cannot come fast enough. Honestly I got my period when I was 11 I am now almost 46 time to go. However whille my hormones drive me crazy only getting my period for 2-3 days every 35 days or so its so light no more heavy days, I am beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Peace.. I have a Mirena IUD. I am 99.9% sure we are finished! It's good for 5 years so I figure DH will get a Vasectomy, then.

I also have a Mirena IUD, good for 5 years, the only "side effect" I have is no period or very light for a day or so which they told me would happen, which is actually a great side effect. prior to that birth control pills.

Good grief, I'm totally in the minority here! I am on the pill and have been for about 25 years...except for when I went off the get pregnant and breast feed twice. I'm 44, have never smoked and my ob/gyn has told me to stay on them until I'm 52-53. She says since I've not gone off them and had my hormone level decrease, that I will not have the side effects of HRT and that they will mask the symptoms of menapause.

When I was pregnant the 2nd time, DH was going to have a vasectomy when she turned 1. He saw the procedure on TLC...need I say more? She is now 12 1/2. However, it's not been an issue since the dr. told me to stay on the pill for now.

Norplant and pills after DD1, pills after DS1 and got pregnant with DS2 while on them, and the patch until I started having problems and was taken off then got pregnant with DD2. When I was 10 weeks pregnant with DD2 my DH went and got his Vasectomy so now that is all we use and I really like not having to have all those extra hormones.

I was psychotic crazy PMS 24/7 woman on the pill...we used condoms for the most part..now my tubes are tied. I wish I were further into meno, still humming along as regular as can be at 46...grr..I'm done with it all already!
