Do You Want to Know...

When someone gets a good or fabulous deal on a gift they give you? My Mom always thinks I spend too much she is very happy and excited to hear about it when I get a bargain. But if I gave something to someone I did not know that well and they said "thank you but you did too much" is it okay to say "I'm a bargain shopper I got a really good deal on it"?
What if they are fretting that you spent way too much do you tell them that $75 thing only cost $15 because you waited for a sale and used coupons?
Where do you draw the line between being proud of the good deals and not wanting anyone to know?

I personally would be excited to know someone used good deals to get me something nice.

If the gift I give seems excessive to the recipient, then I always tell them, "Hey I found a really good sale." Case in point w/ SIL-she got a $75 coffee maker last year from us-we usually only spend about $20 on each other. I think I actually made $$ when I bought it, so I did feel the need to tell her that "You would be surprised at what I paid for it." Her gift to me was totally thoughtful, so I didn't want her to think that we were trying to be extravagent. On the flip side, if I am attending a child's b-day party, and I bring a gift that should have been $20, and I only paid $5-heck no! But if I am doing a gift exchange w/ someone, I will add a bit more to my clearance item, so that I don't feel guilty, but still not go over the top.
