Help me get through this week...

This past weekend, a friends father passed away. I have known this person literally my whole life and it was a shock. We are going to the wake tonight.
I came in to work yesterday only to find out that another friends father passed away. DH has been friends with this person for about 20 years. I am in the medical field and this person was also a patient treated in the area that I work in. I got to know this family very well and it is truly upsetting to alot of us here.

While looking in the obits this morning to find the wake time for the second person, I see a friends pic staring back at me. A friend who was diagnosed with Gall bladder cancer two years ago has also passed away. She was 50 and was truly a genuine and terrific person. Always looking to make others smile and laugh even though she was suffering herself. This one really shook me up.
We will be at wakes every night this week. Life is just so unfair at times and I wonder how I am emotionally going to get through this week...

HOn I am so sorry to hear all your sad news. Sending a prayer and offering by saying I totally agree life sadly is not fair. It truly hits us all so hard at the holiday season because you are reminded of the love ones who are no longer with us to share the beautiful holidays... God Bless.. Peace.. Catherine

This is some week you're going through. Not so many people have to face so much in succession like that.

You are being very kind to all of the families to attend each wake. I'm sure that in this busy time of year, some people may not be there that normally would. It means more to them than you might realize.

I remember hearing people express that the whole wake/funeral experience was such a blur for the immediate family that they *probably* don't notice who did/didn't attend. When my dad died last year, I absolutely noticed, and was grateful. It brought me so much comfort when people I didn't expect were in attendance, and I've never forgotten.

You're being a good friend.

Just think about how lucky these people are to be spending Christmas with Jesus this year!

Came into work this morning and the first call I took was from the mother of a 21 yr old patient of ours who passed away this morning... Another one

JM19,
