Mortgage bailout

I saw on t v that people have stopped paying their mortgage so that they can get in on the bailout for mortgages. Now they are requiring that all paystubs be presented before any help is given. I think it should be for the working people that are having a struggle and are going out and working.
Great idea.

People are so lazy and personal responsibility has gone out the window. People should be paying their mortgage. And if they have an ARM they should be required to at least try to refinance to an affordable payment.
Why should I have to pay his mortgage and her mortgage? I am paying my own thank you very much with no help from anyone other than my husband.

People knew when they signed on the dotted line that they could not afford that things that they were signing for... so I do not think that we should have to bail out anyone!!

This just really frustrates me! My DH and I pay our mortgage faithfully every month. My DH works so hard for our family and we have to budget, pinch pennies and do without some things to make ends meet. And to think that the government is going to bail out those who stop making their payments. That's just WRONG!

Wink

I also firmly agree me and my dh work very very hard for our money and here on Long Island New York where the cost of living is so high and our taxes and mortgage is so high,so one comes and pays our bills. Listen I feel sorry for those people but in this day and age times are extremely rough and hard and we all have enough to take care of our own. Honestly I love living here and its beautiful and we have a excellent school district, but more then that my dh;s family business is here and it does extremely well thank god and also my parents are elderly and sick so at this point we cannot move. Peace and stay safe in this holiday season. Catherine

It is frustrating to be responsible when so many are not. Why should those choosing to avail themselves of bailouts by stopping payment be rewarded while those of us STRUGGLING to remain responsible be the ones suffering? Almost makes me want to join the ranks of the irresponsible. I sure could use that money I pay out each month on my mortgage......

I signed on the hundreds of lines saying I understood my mortgage and promised/pledged to make the payments, ON TIME. I could not, in good conscience, stop meeting my obligations.

It's like the welfare system - people who abuse it pi$$ me off.

No help should be given - they knew what they were signing for, they knew they couldn't afford the higher payments, let their credit suffer.

If "they" really wanted to help the economy and the average working person they would immediately lower everyone's interest rate to 4% fixed. This would enable everyone to afford their monthly payments and the thousands of dollars saved could be pumped into the economy.

I believe the intent is to keep the status quo not to help the economy.

That is EXACTLY!!! what I have been thinking.
If the housing market continues to implode, the property taxes that are not going to be paid to the county and city are going to have a major effect on community as a whole.
