I read John Walsh's first book. He is an inspiration to all. There are only a few kinds of people in the world. Not many would take his tragedy and turn it into a triumph that prevents others from feeling the pain his family experienced. God Bless Him.

I wouldn't say solved as much as closed. The person that they think was responsible died in prison 12 years ago.

Adam Walsh abduction murder case closed -- South Florida Sun-Sentinel.com

Hollywood police Chief Chadwick Wagner said today that after a fresh review, he is ending the abduction and murder case of Adam Walsh.

At an emotional press conference with Adam's parents Reve and John Walsh and their three children, Wagner said there is no new evidence in the case that began on July 27, 1981. Still, after what he called a meticulous review of the record and talks with the investigators, he concluded pedophile and serial killer Ottis Toole abducted and killed the 6-year-old boy 27 years ago.

Wagner said if Toole, who died in prison 12 years ago, was still alive, he would be arrested and probably convicted of Adam's murder.Wagner did not say the case was closed, but described it as "exceptionally cleared," a technical term that amounts to the same thing. The chief, a department veteran who has been in his current position about a year, acknowledged that shoddy police work, lax procedures and the lower standards of the time contributed to the failure to charge Toole.

I remember when Adam was missing, and it was excruciating to see the pain of his parents.

John Walsh has said for many years that this scumbucket was the murderer. The guy confessed. There was evidence linking him, and eyewitnesses. And I'm glad he's dead, so the Walsh family knows he's in Hell.

One piece of information I never heard before was that when Adam was playing video games in the Sears store, a couple of aisles over from his mom that day, several teenagers who were also playing were loud and carrying on. As a result, a Sears' employee threw the kids out of the store, escorting them out to the parking lot, including 6 year old Adam. That's where he was kidnapped. Imagine the guilt of that employee.

I hope there is some peace for the Walshes.
