Getting excited about trip to Cali

Well, I leave on Saturday!

It has been 21 years since I have spent a Christmas with my family in Cali.
It has been 9 1/2 years since I have been there for a visit.

My Grandma is now 82, my favorite Uncle, who took the place of my dad after he died, has cancer and may not make it much past Christmas, and I am going to visit my dad's grave. It is going to be very emotional for me, but I know it will be a good kind of emotional (not like Lake Tahoe!)
Plus, seeing all of the family members I haven't seen in so long....it is almost surreal.
I am really looking forward to healing with my sister and niece/nephew after our visit to Lake Tahoe. I really look forward to that probably the most (other than seeing my Uncle)

I am just really looking forward to it!

However, I still haven't even started packing! haha!

Anyway, just wanted to share my excitement.

ohhgodd what extremely wonderful news to be going to California to spend the holidays with family . Girl you gotta get you packing done. But as we us women we need to pack alot , like sometimes our whole closet. Are you like me do you take more shoes and bags then you truly need. It is definitely a women thing but a fun thing. Needless to say this is so exciting to go to California and be with family you have not seen in a long time. Peace, joy and relax and have a safe safe trip. Catherine

Wow, this is so weird. I responded to your post this morning but it's not here. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that it was before 6am and maybe I wasn't thinking straight and hit the wrong button.

Anyway, I hope you're trip is wonderful. Enjoy the time together. May healing happen where it's needed and may you have a blessed and joyful Christmas!

Welcome to CA. I live in San Diego county and we just got 2 feet of snow in our mountains. That is a ton of snow for us. If we are lucky we get snow there a couple times a year and usually only 4 or 5 inches. So please bring some warm clothes. Lake Tahoe is probably very beautiful right now (It's always beautiful), but I bet it will be cold. Here the weather can be very crazy. Snow in the mountains one day and beach weather the next. I hope all the storms clear out when you are here and you have a great time with your family.

Thanks for all the well wishes. I still have not started packing.

Catherine.. LOL! You crack me up! YES I am so like that. BUT this time, I can't be! It costs now to check in baggage on the planes. I paid $30 for ONE suitcase, so I have to really be conservative and understand that "Yes, my family does have washer and dryers"..LOL

So, I am packing a few "conservative clothes", a couple of "dress clothes" and a couple of "casual clothes".

Now for shoes, I have it narrowed down to 5 pair.. *sigh*.. but need to get it down to 2.
How the flip am I going to accomplish that??

I think I am going to be smuggling a few pair in my duffle on the plane.. lol!

ohhgodd can you perhaps do like I do and slip some extra pairs of shoes in your dh suitcase. If he is like my dh who is so basic he takes 2 pairs and would only take one if I did not push the issue, he prefers sneakers and when he can go barefoot. Anyway the same with clothes he packs so little I always stick some of my items in his. Also since I have 2 dd's needless to say we take way to many shoes, but what the heck more shoes for us girls to share we all wear between 6 and 6 1/2 .Getting back girl did you pack yet ..lol.Enjoy soooo much fun awaits you... Peace and again stay safe in this holiday season and a blessed safe flight there and back.... Catherine
