Smile Neighbors

Ok it is official our new neighbors completely rock
Here I was typing away and suddendy realize the neighbor's
snowblower sounds oddly closer than usual. Oh wait, that's because
he seems to be snowblowing our driveway, only not just our driveway
because I just saw him going around back so he must be doing our path
to the oil tank as well. Gosh that sure seems alot faster than my shovel!

So only one question remains. How do I thank him?
I would consider running out and forcing him to take some cash- only I dont have any (we debit everything).
Maybe bring over a christmas card later? What would you do?
oh- I am baking cookies next week. Would that be too weird if I gave them some?

I am kind of at a loss here. They have lived next door for a couple weeks but we haven't even said hello yet. We kind of avoided the last people that lived there cause- well i am pretty sure they were dealing.
anywho - any ideas would be much appreciated.
Happy holidays!

I'd give them some cookies, too. You're already making them and I'm sure they'd appreciate it!

Wish my next door neighbors with the snowblower would do my driveway!

Some baked goods, or/and hot chocolate.

I agree. I would definitely take a plate of cookies over with a warm "Thank You".

ETA: Just reread your post and realized that you aren't making the cookies until next week (I was thinking this weekend). Definitely thank him in person as soon as you can, but I'd still take a plate of cookies over later.

I would take over a plate of cookies, but I wouldn't wait until next week. Just make something simple, and take them over with a heartfelt thank you.

A week going by without a thank you may make them less likely to help you out if it snows again this week....

Can you bake them up a quick nut bread or brownies for today and bring them some of the cookies next week?

Our neighbor blows our snow for us and we blow his leaves. He's older and the leaf blower is getting too heavy for him. We usually get them a nice bottle of champagne for New Year's Eve also.

How about a hot pot of some good homemade soup like clam chowder or split pea? And some good bread to go with it.

What a nice neighbor! Well, we usually have a contingent here that would recommend against home-baked goodies....a tin of gourmet hot cocoa might be nice....a box of chocolates...or some holiday-themed item. Personally, I'd be good with home-baked items, but there are those who are not...

Yeah, that's what I would do, too.

Guess that'd be me. Just a Thanks would be good enough for me.

Your neighbors seem really nice. Maybe you could give them a gift card to a store or maybe pairs of gloves.

I agree everyone loves a plate of baked goods whether you make them or buy them.
That was very nice the way neighbors used to be in the good ole days! You are lucky!

Wink

Sorry this is the first time reading this post, what a truly nice thing to do for new neighbors and especially at this time of the year, when its truly about giving then receiving, I would definitely agree some home baked goods and hot chocolate is a wonderful idea even perhaps some boxed chocolate with a little token note of thank attached. I have to say I have one of the best neighbors next door, they are senior citizens and we both have very very long driveways and since they are home all day if it snows, like they say we are going to get any minute now. You will see and hear John getting on this snow machine and doing his driveway and then come over and do ours. You are blessed to have wonderful neighbors . Peace and stay safe in this holiday season.... Catherine

Thank you for all your reponses. Yesterday we went over after dh got out of work to thank them, and give them a christmas card. I will bring them some cookies ( and maybe cocoa too thanks for the suggestion) next week. If they dont eat them- well that is their choice I will include an ingredient list incase they have any allergies.

I am excited to have nice neighbors again. I grew up in a small town where people actually borrow sugar and help each other out, I have missed that over the last few years.

I would have loved to bake them something yesterday- or today even but I don't really have the ingredients. I "sold" (read gave away) my car last week so I cannot go to the store. DH and I have been doing groceries together on sundays.

oh- funny story- He thought he was being sneaky and anonymous snowblowing the driveway as he did not realize anyone was home. I guess we weren't supposed to know who did it.

Thanks again for all your posts!
Have a good one.
