Thumbs up Need Ideas for Stocking Stuffers for Adult Kids

We still do stockings at our house. My kids are in their 20's and it's one of their favorite things on Christmas morning is to see what mom came up with this year.

You guys are so good at coming up with great ideas. Can you give me some good ideas for inexpensive stocking stuffers for adult kids? Thanks so much!!

--have the same age kids as yours and do the same things! For my dd I will have some small gift cards to CVS, gas, and Friendly's. For my ds besides the gas card, he will get Gamestop and Wendy's. Then I know they like Japanese food, and both traveled to Japan a few years ago, so I am going to a local Japanese market and picking up some treats.

Not sure about the rest....so I will be reading this thread to get ideas. lol.

For older DD's - a curling iron or straightner, a pretty necklace or earrings, my DDIL is into crafts so she'll be getting some crafty things in hers.

DS - tools (screwdrivers a hammer one year), something for his hobbies. a poster, things for his car (one year I got mine 5 air freshners.

My oldest is 20 and I still do a stocking for her too!
I usually do fun socks and undies.
Nice soap. She likes patchouli so I got her a bar of handmade patchouli soap this year.
I got her a cute set of chop sticks that have an octopus at the top.
Battery op toothbrush
Beef jerky
I have done knitting needles before.
She likes to draw so I got her a nice set of pencils

I just picked up a 2 pack of Oral B power toothbrushes at Rite aid for $5.99 ( plus a $2 single check rebate). I am considering using them in stockings....lol
I also picked up a cute pair of holiday boxer shorts there for $3.50 (50% 0ff), i will put those in hubby's stocking! :0)

I have a 19YO college student and his stocking will be stuffed with playing cards, boxer shorts, DVD, his favorite pencils (DixonTiconderoga - long story/joke), mini digital photo album filled with family photos, fathead laptop skin, a neck gaitor, dark chocolate Lindt balls, chapstick, aftershave, Mach3 shaver, and some gift cards to food places.

Home Depot has a good deal on small LED flashlights. Give each kid a couple, one to keep in their car, one for their home. One of our local car wash places has a monthly pass for $10- could be a good stocking stuffer for the person who likes to keep their car clean in the winter months.

I tend to shop year-round for various stocking stuffers because we do "family" stockings in our large family (14 kids), but through the years it's been fun to see what everyone come up with.

Some of the best bargains I've found are after-holiday sales, like the gum wax "lips" I bought after Halloween one year. After Christmas last year I got a great deal on gingerbread house kits which I passed out with instructions to put it away for Christmas this year.

I also bought some bargain foam ornament kits after the holidays and will use them in this year's stockings.

Other ideas are fly swatters, bandaids, lottery tickets, playing cards, emery boards, nail clippers, crayons, coloring/activity books and stickers. If your bank or other business hands out free pens, ask for a few for your stockings.

I keep a box just for my collection of various stocking items and just add to it when I find some more things. We enjoy our stocking gifts and it's fun to see what ideas everyone has come up with each year!

Big refrigerator magnets
Socks
Gift Cards
One of those crank up radios that doesn't need batteries (or a flashlight that cranks)
Water bottle (the aluminum ones are fantastic!) Along the same lines a nice travel mug if they drink coffee
Monthly planners for next year ($ Tree! they have a HUGE variety of sizes and pictures)
Candles in holders
Moisturizer (yes for the men too)
Slippers
A stuffed animal that looks like their real pet
Coin purse or wallet
Key rings
Reusable folding shopping bags

I will post some more when I think of them

Why, of course he does. Is that a lot for a stocking? I did not know that...that's mostly free after coupon/rebate stuff or things I got with my $10 Bobs Oct, Nov, Dec coupons or MyPoints GCs. Total cost ~$25

Older kids are a little different than little ones....hence the OP's question. I personally want to do useful things, not junk. He doesn't have room for unnecessary things...his dorm room is sooooooooo small.

Thank you. Thank you. This thread came just in the nick of time! My daughter is 21 and a college student. My son is 24 and is flying home from Austin, Texas. I am also looking to fill two stockings. One of which the contents will have to be flown back to Austin with him when he leaves. I love all of your ideas! Keep them coming!

We have 3 kids that are now adults (18, 18 & 21). We normally do a combo of candy & other doo-dads from the dollar spot at Target or Dollar Tree.

I also throw in a gift card or two from Dunkin Donuts, Starbucks, etc.

One thing that MUST go in the toe of the stocking is one of the Terry's Chocolate Oranges that they smack on the counter and it breaks into "orange" sections. It's something we've done since they were little, and it stuck. At least now they come in other flavors....'cause I think the orange & chocolate together is gross...

I have to ask, does anyone need a 38 year old kid? I am diggin' all I've read so far, what awesome moms you are!! We didn't have socks growing up, my boyfriend, now husband bought me one when we were dating, he felt so sorry for me, said I was horribly denied!

Have no suggestions, (my kids are 11 and 12), but had to add my 2 cents on how impressed I am with all you ladies do for your kids. Merry Christmas.

Well, thanks everyone for all the great ideas. I went out today to do the great stocking stuffer search with all your items listed.

Even little items added up together are so expensive (especially buying for three!) I went to Dollar Tree and did a lot of it. Then on to WalMart for the rest. It was much easier to buy for my DIL than my sons. But I'm completely finished now thanks to you guys!! Now on to baking........

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!
