Those that I know who do have fibro also suffer from symptoms of depression, extreme fatigue, insomnia and forgetfullness. For them, it's not just a pain issue. And their diagnoses came from months or years of medical testing to eliminate everything else. I hope you get the relief you seek. |

I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia around 1993 when my son was 2 yrs old. I had most of the trigger points. The doctor said it frequently shows up when your sleep is disrupted for an extended period of time (like after having a baby). I took amiltypitaline for a few weeks, but it knocked me out so completely that I didn't hear someone trying to break into our apartment during the night - when I woke up the next morning the molding was almost totally pulled away from the door frame because someone had pushed so hard on it! and my bedroom was right next to the back door. Never heard a thing. Stopped taking the meds. Anyway - I had to completely change my sleep habits, and that meant letting go of some of the housework at that time. I pretty much slept when my son slept - if he went to bed at 8 pm, so did I. What helped me the most is to stay on a strict sleep/wake schedule, which I still do. If I get off my sleep schedule for more than a day or two, my lower back starts to ache terribly. I get a B12 shot every month, but I don't know that it helps the fibro. It is actually for my anemia. (Geez - now that I think about it, I sound like I am falling apart!) Anyway - I hope you find something to give you some relief!! |

Have you ever tried just a slow-release iron tablet for your anemia instead of the B12 shot? That really helps me. I've also heard that aloe-vera juice is supposed to be great for fibro. Just another thought. I'm of the thinking I'd rather put natural ingredients in my body rather than chemicals, this I'm not on Synthroid, Glucophage and cholesterol lowering meds. For some people, it works. For some people, not so well. I hate taking pills though! |

Vitamin D is one of the most common and underreported vitamin deficencies in the usa today. In part because a. we're all using sunscreen and covering up - and b. most of us don't live in a place where we'd get enough sunlight to get enough vitamin d anyway. I was diagnosed with Fibro, and Chronic Fatigue Synd. by one of the top doctors at the A.I. Dupont Institute for Children when I was a teen. I also have a Vitamin D deficency. And while taking my suppliments does help I can assure you that it does not make the problem go away. I don't get charged anywhere near $300 though when I get my levels tested, and I don't have health insurance of any kind (nor am I currently on any sort of assistance program for lower fees - although we're trying to enroll in one). One of the easiest ways to get it is to take the Calcium chews with D & K. Takes care of a lot of issues there. Although for pain relief I suggest weekly acupuncture.
