We're supposed to get up to 18 inches from this storm and the one coming in this weekend. It started about 3 am this morning and we have about 6 inches already. Surprisingly, our schools weren't canceled. But at least it's warmer (above zero!)

School's cancelled today- anyone else?

We are supposed to get 6- 10 inches of snow today (western Ma) starting around noon. I happen to be off beginning today for the weekend as well- I will not miss delivering mail in the snowstorm! Dh was supposed to be home today but he volunteered for an OT shift . We were going to do all the gift wrapping today, but not with the kids here. Instead, will stay in pjs all day, watch movies,do a little cleaning, bake goodies and make a nice dinner. Who else has no school today?

Wishing for a snow day, but we are supposed to hit 78 today.

It was Polar Express/Pajama day today for the last day of school before the break, and the kids had a hard time finding something they wouldn't roast in at school, since they heaters are on in the builidings....

The kids are ready for the move to Indiana, so they can finally get to see some real snow

Our schools were cancelled before any snow even started (the snow started about 7:30ish). We are expecting at least a foot of snow, already have a couple of inches and it's only been snowing a couple of hours. I can only hope we can all go home early today.....I hate this crap. Then Sunday another storm is coming, and then again on Tuesday.....jeez, enough already!

I am in Galesburg, IL, we had a bunch of ice last night so we are cancelled, just about everything is. I stayed home today. Even my Dish is out. I have wrapped some presents, going to try to get my cards done, and maybe some baking done. The only thing that saved the power is that we didn't have hardly any wind with the ice. I know some towns are without power though. The wind is picking up a little, but not much. I planned for this yesterday and put in to have today off from work. Going to try to make the day off worth while!

Not cancelled here (it is going to be 75 today) but DS and best friend stayed home - it is a half day and they do nothing worthwhile on half days.... I think they get in more trouble than anything on half days so we let them skip and go ice-skating.

Arkansas Report ~
Here in Little Rock, School was canceled Tuesday due to ICE , then Wednesday was a delayed start for the workday of some work places.

but here's the kicker,

Today, I sent my kids to school in short sleeves, light jackets because it's going to almost 70 today....

Wacky Weather indeed!

I think Farmers Almanac has us getting some snow or winter precip next week around Christmas too....

We've been in Montana 5 years--have yet to see school canceled due to snow and/or temperatures. Kids are allowed outside as long as it's 0 degrees or above.
The busses (sp?) just strap on snow chains and keep going, albeit slow sometimes. Only if it hits -40 (or maybe -30) would the school busses not run as the fuel freezes in the lines. Otherwise, no snow days for us.

They forecasted an ice storm here, but we got drizzle and nothing else. The temps didn't fall enough to freeze. They say we "dodged a bullet" but, more accurately, they didn't forecast correctly!

I'm glad school's not out - the high school is finishing up finals - now she doesn't have to worry about them over break!

No school here either. Cold - 21 degrees out. Massive snowstorm predicted for tomorrow. We have missed 2 days this week - had 1 on time day - and 2 days with 2 hour late starts.

No school here today either. We got hit with the ice storm and everything is a mess. Our power is going on and off quite a bit due to branches laying on power lines.
Matter of fact, I woke up to the sound a cracking & falling branch in our front yard.
I can't wait until Spring..ughh

We've got 6 inches so far. They think it'll end up with about 10. So no school here. Pretty much every school in our half of the state is closed.

This is the 3rd snow day so far in NJ already this year! The other 2 were stupid, the roads were fine, this is going to be a big one though, up to 18 inches!

I LOVE a snow day and we all can use a day home to relax and spend time together, I was glad when that phone rang this morning!

We made 3 batches of fudge and are going to do our gingerbread house later maybe. I love when the kids have time off of school even more than they do!

No school in NW New Jersey. It's so pretty outside! DH had today off anyway so we went out early before it really started to snow and got some shopping done. Our oldest babysat for us. It's been snowing heavily since about 9 or 10 and now it's a snow/ice mix. Glad we're home with lots of cookies to bake and crafts to make. I love it! Stay safe out there!

It has to be bad out before school gets cancelled here. I guess thats part of living in Maine. I work as a sub at the local High School and the kids are hoping for a snow day on Monday. We are looking at a Noreaster heading toward us on Sunday night with 6- 12 inches of snow and high winds. As long as they can keep the roads somewhat plowed...they will probably have school on Monday. We had a day last week when we got about 6 inches, and they had school. Kind of scary thinking about all those teenagers out on the road learning to handle driving in the snow. I only live about four miles from the school, so its not a big deal for me. I almost always get a call to work on days when it snows.....I think teachers tend to get the *flu* on yucky days...

Earlier today I heard on the radio that Eugene is under an ice and snow emergency. I am sure most of you in harsh winter areas would be laughing right now. They don't maintain the roads very well here and there is NO maintenance of sidewalks or walkways.
My husband works in another county and he said that county is very well maintained.
It did not even get cold enough here to leave the faucets running.
