Car Wash..........

It's been a loooooonnnnnnggggg time since I've been thru one of those car wash things where you sit in your car, and let the thing beat your car clean. I was out running errands tonite, and thought it would be fun to go thru the car wash. Actually, the kids thought that would be fun..... anyway, we got up there, and it was NINE DOLLARS to go thru.

Needless to say, I backed right on out of there. Does anyone know the "normal" rate for this??? It has been so long ago, I think it was $3 the last time I went.

We use the Entertainment Book coupon, which takes half off - so I think we end up spending $3.50 (news to me that those are up to $9.00 now!) I think the last time we went was spring time...

Ours has 3 different types of washes. They are $6, $9 and $12. I know our GetGo has a $5.00 one for any of their 3 types of washes, but I cannot use it, since my Tahoe is black.

I've actually sprayed it myself at the carwash and it was like $4.00 from start to finish. It didn't include the dryer, but I had dry it anyhow.

The drive through carwash never gets my vehicle clean enough to suit me. Around here the prices range from around $4 up to $9. The regular carwash has shortened the length of time for the money, unless my vehicle is just dusty dirty, it takes anywhere from $2-3.

$9.00!! wow! i usually spray mine down so about 2 bucks. Whenever I have went thru those ones you park and get clean, I get dizzy if i watch it. I know we are not moving but it feels to me as if we are moving backwards.

$9 sounds about standard to me which is why I used to never use them. A new place opened and they do $3 washes and then they upgrade from there. $12 is the max I think (with vacuuming and add a smell inside which I don't do). I'll do $3 to keep the snow slush and salt mixture off the car in the winter. Summer...it's DH's job LOL

We have one here and it's $7.50. DH usually washes our cars, those things don't get them clean enough for him either, but this time of year we'll pay the $7.50 when it's freezing out to get the sand/salt off between snowstorms!

We have another one where you don't sit in it, they run it through and then dry it at the end. It has an annual option. We do it for our Tahoe because DH hates washing it because it's so big. It's $249/year but it's unlimited washes. You just have to give them a tip.

I'm afraid if I tried to wash mine it would fall apart. I don't think I have washed it since before school started the second week of August. lol

I used to just wash our cars in the driveway, but since the drought down here (water restrictions) I haven't been able to do that in ages. So we've usually just been driving around with dirty cars. The price for one of those car washes here at the local Shell station car wash is either $7, $8, or $9. Very expensive...especially when you're used to washing the car yourself. I do it once in awhile when I just can't stand the dirt any longer. ~Lisa

Just curious - why can't you use a car wash because your vehicle is black? I know some people avoid car washes because of potential scratches, but that can and will happen to any color, so I've run out of ideas! LOL!

$9 sounds pretty inexpensive to me. I pay $15 for a car wash.

I pay about $8 here where I live in Kansas, don't really have a choice, we are in a HOA that doesn't let us wash our cars! The last one I went to didn't even have the dryers, and left spots on my car!

I usually take mine to Texaco.
It's 5.99, 6.99 and 7.99 (regular to deluxe)
but if you get gas, you get a dollar discout off each wash. (4.99, 5.99, 6.99)

I run it thru the wash and dryer, but end up pulling to the side and towel drying. The dryer totally sucks and if I don't dry it by hand it leaves splotches.

In looking above, it seems like a lot, but it's a nice splurge. I don't like washing it, and it's quicker and easier to run it through the wash. So I think for that, it's worth it.

I pay $9 up here in Alaska. It's an auto wash and it does a great job so I'm happy w/ the price. Whenever we use the DIY car washes, we always miss spots and it looks shabby. The kids and I love going through the auto wash so I guess it's also a form of entertainment for us, lol.
