Christmas Card Rant---

I'm sitting here writing out my Christmas cards. Love to get em, hate to send em! Some of these, I don't even know why I bother. You know, like those friends that really aren't friends anymore - you just exchange Christmas cards? I know I sound Scroogey, but I just want to cut em loose already? And what do you write in your cards, do you have a little cheery one liner I can use??
BAAA Humbug!!! (not really but you know what I mean!)

This year I especially felt that I put waay too much time in my cards. I always take a picture of the kids to include along with writing a Christmas letter (since much happened this year). I also hand-write a note in the card.
I'm also starting to think that if I don't get a return card after so many years, I am going to stop sending to some of these folks. I know that sounds Scrooge-like, but it really is time-consuming.

Wink

Personally I have only sent out christmas cards with my kids and my shelties. This has always been the rule. The card has all our names on it, other then that I never write any notes at all. However at this point I only have 2 aunts left on my dads side and so I will call them for christmas. Also only my parents and my father in law gets a special christmas card from me and dh and then another from their grandchildren , those cards I will write a few things but we all live so close so its really just a special card for them only...So everyone else cousins and close friends just get the christmas card with the kids and the shelties.. Peace .. Catherine

I got a book on clearance at Books a million. It has sayings for Christmas, birth of a baby, marriage, etc. I just copied a few lines from the book. I think the title is, " What can I say ?"

how about this one liner: "It's the holidays.....we're all in misery" ?

I cut back on the amount of cards I sent, and I also noticed that we didn't get as many from people this year. I think its just getting too expensive.

I haven't started yet! I figure that my cards will help stretch out the holiday cheer by arriving late.

For most people, I write "Best wishes for a wonderful holiday and a happy and healthy New Year."

I send ONLY to people who sent to me last year and, even then, I don't send to the co-workers who are clearly just sending to everyone on the employees list. You know, the ones that come with a printed label, printed card and not a single letter of handwritten script anywhere.

I have always kept a list of who I sent to and who sent to me. If I'm starting to feel that way you do about someone, I will watch my list and if they don't send on for 2 years, they're off the list.

This is the 1st year since college I haven't sent any cards out and I really don't care. And, I have to say, we've received way less than usual. I think a lot of people have cut them out this year. It's not ecoomy or money for us, I just truly haven't felt moved to send them. Not sure why. Oh well, maybe next year!

I forgot to put my Christmas confetti in my cards this year! Darn it now I have to wait until next year to use them. As long as I have something to do next Christmas and as long as I buy after Christmas discounted items for next year I KNOW I will be around at least one more year!

I have started slacking off over the years. I make my own cards (for every occasion) and I just got so busy this year. I did make some very simple ones...I've only been sending cards to people who have sent us one this year. LOL! I still have a couple to send.

We are sending out Happy New Year cards this year so they will go out in the next couple of weeks. I have only gotten 2 Christmas cards as of yet so I think everyone is cutting back. I probably will too...

I will say "Wishing you a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year"

I think I actually got more cards this year, I just counted and it's almost even with what I sent! I was surprised, I figured that would be somethign people would cut back on, but they haven't here at least?

And I just do the photos of the kids, usually something a little different, like a collage, or black and white photos and then just a pre-printed line and signature. I am not writing on 75 cards, forget it!

And my neighbors and I have a race to see who can get theirs done first and mailed.
