Did you see "Intervention: Nicole" (feeding tube)

A&E Television - Intervention Episode Guide <<< #74, Nicole

Wow. I've never seen an episode like this. I remember thinking "feeding tube, why is she on here? She obviously had a medical condition". No. She had some serious issues!

This intervention followed Nicole. She has had a feeding tube in for over 15(?) years. She had the tube because she refuses to swallow food. A fear of swallowing; that she would choke.

Turns out, there are deeper issues (I don't want to give too much away for those who have not seen it or plan to see it).

A few thoughts: I thought the parents absolutely did the wrong thing. I was especially annoyed with the dad and his attitude.
I think Nicole's husband should have arranged for a sitter for the kids instead of leaving them there with Nicole.
I especially felt bad for Niclole's daughter Morgan.
And the cup - GROSS.

"Intervention" airs on A&E.

Anyone else watch?

dannic, Nicole would absolutely not swallow food. Sometimes she would "eat" food, chew it and spit it in the cup.
And if I remember correctly, she would also not swallow her spit. (is that right, hashbug?)

They said she would not swallow her spit. I hope she finally stays in therapy and gets help.

Ahhhh, okay. Thanks for confirming, heatherr.

Palmcoup, yes, definitely watch it if you can. It's really sad though, probably one of the few that have really stood out in my mind.

I love that show. I watch it whenever I see it on. I let my girls watch it too and we talk about the effects of drugs & alcohol in excess. I find it fascinating...the extent of some of their addictions and the lengths they'll go to for them. It's very educational for the kids, too.

Lisa, yes, it is fascinating. It has opened my eyes to the fact that a lot of these people suffering from addictions have serious psychological wounds, and the drugs/alcohol are a way to deal with them.
Like last nght's show, with the not wanting to swallow -was odd - but then made sense when you find out the reason why.

Yes, I saw it. I love that show! I try to watch it every week. I've never seen anything quite like that. Sad to see how she is still suffering from the evil actions of another after all these years. I wish that man would have been put away for life. Her parent's should have prosecuted him to the full extent of the law. They said that they didn't want to put his wife and children through it. The guy was probably molesting his own children! It makes me sick. I'm not sure how things are going to turn out for her if she still has that feeding tube. I was hoping that they'd say she had it removed by now. The cup thing was the most disgusting thing I've ever seen. Anyway, I do hope that she recovers from her trauma and can get on with her life. It's sad how it's really affecting her children. ~Lisa

OK I am sure that I am going to get flamed for this however since we are all entitiled to opinions, I will voice mine...
"Sad to see how she is still suffering from the evil actions of another after all these years." At what point in someones life are the required to stand up and be responsible for their own actions? It is so easy to have bad "behaviors" or "actions" and blame it on something that happened years ago... but there comes a time when one must be held accountable for their own actions.
My brothers and sister and I have suffered YEARS of terrible physical abuse at the hands of our father. We have all chose to handle it a different way however we do not sit there and blame that for everything that happens in ours lives. My brothers are both alcoholics.. do they blame my dad? NO they know they are alcoholics because they drink too much., plain and simple.. Why do they drink to much? Because they love the taste of beer and the feeling of a buzz. Does it numb some of the things that they went through? Yes but you will not hear either one of them blame it on my father.
And ehr husband, well he is enabling the behavior by NOT taking the children from her. Simple positive reinforcement.
Im sorry but it really irks me to see people blame everyone else for their problems.

I hope it has helped people. It is so sad to watch sometimes I cannot finish I have to DVR it and FF to the intervention part.

If I were on drugs or some substance I am the kind of person who would watch this and know I had to take action but there are many different types in the world so who knows?

I do agree with you...I think that Nicole has got to stop playing the victim...She does need to deal with what happened to her and move on...My own father was an alcoholic and I don't blame him one bit for my issues...The husband should not have those girls around her at all... ~Lisa

They tell those people that they're doing a documentary on addiction. They don't know there will be an intervention at the end. I'm wondering how long they can continue to get willing participants before everyone is aware of the show. Or, maybe there are enough people out there caught up in their addictions that they don't know that show exists? I dont' know, but I've wondered before how long they'll be able to come up with new people who don't know what's going on.

Even if they know about the show, people will still do it, for money.. to fund their addictions.

I love this show. i haven't watched this episode yet. It's on DVR right now, so I'll get to it.
As we speak my son is in rehab in Florida for the past three months for heroin addiction. These shows hit home with me. He has come a long way. The rehab is really tough on him. They really beat you down and get you to stand up again. To make them realize what they've done to the people around them. They say each addict takes 6 people down with them.
I have been going to NarAnon meetings. We talk amongst ourselves, and sometimes joke that if we saw our lives on a Lifetime movie, we would marvel at it. It's a rollercoaster of insanity. and chaos. I am in my own recovery as my son works on his. It's a devastating thing to happen to a family and there are alot of issues my son is learning how to deal with.
