Question Will you have NY's resolutions?

I'm not big on New Year's resolutions but I do think the end of the year is a good time to reflect on the good, the bad and WTH of the last 364 days.
I would like to be more mindful of my actions. I seem to be less focused than I would like and do too many things from habit.
Along those lines, I would like to be ejected from the rut-mobile. Maybe take a couple leisure study classes or join a group that is involved in something I would like to learn.
These are just some of the thoughts milling around in my head right now. I'm sure there are more improvements I could make but will start with these.

How about it? Will you be making New Year's resolutions?

I will be - for me, this year it's all about improving my health. I need to be more vegetable-consuming, instead of breads and that kind of filler...

I also need to move more consistently - I go through these up and down stages - I'm always plus or minus 12 pounds or so. Right now I'm "plus." This time, I want to change that pattern for good after getting rid of it!

Really this year I feel so selfish (vain?), but my resolution is going to be all about improving myself physically.

For me is too continue eating healthy perhaps trying to cut down on sugar. At this point I have not drank soda so long which is a good thing. I have cut way down on butter using jellies and jams. I also wish to focus on keeping my panic attacks down and try to stay calmer as I truly do not like having to take my xanax as needed, however if it helps me then so be it.I want to continue more with yoga, because my life most of our lives is filled with so much stress. One of my true wishes for the new year is first and foremost is the continued health and well being of my family . However if I could get a personal wish it would me for my period to end and never come back ever ever lol we will see.TO all whatever you new years resolutions are, do not beso hard on yourself, take it one day at a time and I am sure in the end it all will work out. I sincerely wish for all to have a much better year in 2009 hopefully it will for all of us.. Peace and healthy wishes for a blessed New Year 2009.. Catherine

I don't make them personally, I hate to lie to myself. I do the best I can all year and try to do better the next time I make a mistake.

I will make some sort of resolution - I always at least try. One I made about 10 years ago that was really a good one was to make a point of joining a lunch table of people that I don't usually eat with at least once a week. I learned so much about different people and different parts of the business in doing so.....I still do it regularly, but not officially.

I want to get back to my eating healthy plan. For the most part, I did wonderful all of last year. I managed to shed about 20lbs and keep it off (gained a few pounds, but always lost it again). This past week I have eaten everything in sight. I have had more bread and chocolate in one week then I probably had eaten in the previous six months. Its made me feel like crap! The one good thing is although I have been eating like a cow, I have kept up on my daily exercise plan. My other plan for this coming year is to increase my treadmill time from 45 minutes, to one hour at least four days a week, and keep increasing the amount of weights that I lift. I actually have muscles now, and I don't want to lose what I worked so hard to gain. Hubby is going to try to shed another 25lbs. If he does, we are going to a tropical beach....

Yes I do. Mine is all about health also.

I would like DH to be down to 225 and me down to 125 pounds before our trip to Disneyland (90 days from today!).

Added exercise (treadmill & Wii Fit) and healthier eating should help with this goal. And less snacking (my downfall is snacking.....).

Yes I do, and mine also have to do with health.
I would like to lose 25 pounds by April--Jazz Fest.
A friend and I are starting fitness classes 3 days a week after school...beginining on Jan 5th.
I am going to hang glide this year. I've jumped from a plane twice (4 and 5 years ago), but this is something else I would like to do.
I need to get out of the rut, also.
I walked a half-marathon and several 10 Ks this past year. My goal this year is the RUN a mile straight and also run a 5 K.
Sounds like a plan for year 51!

RUN a mile straight and a 5K - you can do it, mdrpooh!!! I'm your age and I do it and am nothing special , so I know you can do it!!! Just shoot for a moderate pace - 12 minute mile or something like that.

I don't think you should feel selfish, taking care of or bettering yourself isn't just for you. It's a great gift to the people in your life also. When you feel better physically and mentally, it extends to your relationships and decisions.
For some reason lately a phrase from a Van Zant song keeps running through my head. I think it's trying to tell me something. The phrase is "starting today I'm someone I'd be proud to know".
I think my subconscience knows that I need to tighten up my game.

I will be following doctor's orders as my resolution.
My cholesterol and tryglicerides are way too high and I am pre-diabetic.
So I will be eating fewer 'goodies' and exercising (walking) (almost) every day.
If my back doesn't act up too much I guess I should be doing a little more dancing at square dances too.
I am hoping all of this will result in a decent weight loss also!
Wish me luck!
Thanks.

I'd like to go the healthy route as well. It seems like I say this every year and only ONE year in the past 10 years have I actually kept it up all year. I really want to get off of Lipitor so my goal is to eat healthier and keep my cholesterol down without the meds. Hopefully a side effect will be to lose a little bit of weight but if not much, it's not something that I worry too much about... I've learned that worry is my worst enemy. I can honestly say that I am happy with myself the way I look but, I do worry about my internal health and get tired of aching knees and feet.

I LOVE that!! I have heard that Van Zant song a million times...never thought about how great those lyrics were before.

Thanks, Cashchik! And you're right, too.

I totally agree with all about leading a more healthier lifestyle. For startes I am a vegetarian so that helps alot. Also like I said its been so long since I cut soda from my diet and also cutting back on butter. As far as salt I never used it so thats not a problem. My problem is I simply love love hot tea with alot of sugar and I also love love cheese cakes and butter cookies and whip creme. My dad keeps telling me to cut out sugar completely however he is a coffee drinker. Plain tea is just too bitter. I figure like this I never smoked never drank no illegial drugs so if sugar and perhaps a bit more butter is my downfalls I will live with that, cause life is too short. However its me my personality to worry and take too much on my shoulders. I wish I could be more like my dh who looks at the glass half full rather me half empty, but I have worked on and am way better then years pass. Also as we get older I will be 46 this 4/20/09 I need glasses, my joints hurt in the morning, a bit weight gain, but in the scheme of things its all quite normal....Also I do take many vitamins anyone else take vitamin supplements I have too for being anemic and since I do not eat red meat and I take alot of the B vitamins to have more energy. Peace in this holiday season. Catherine

Discuss with your MD using Red Rice Yeast tablets instead of Lipitor. Yes, it's still a pill, but it's "natural". When DH took it consistently, his levels were so good it amazed his MD. And it is definitely cheaper than Lipitor!

I'd like to do a couple of things this year: continue w/ exercising, and saving money.

Great advice CJS! Start out slow and build a little at a time! My niece is into sports and has a slight problem with her weight. Her coach has told her to run a mile four times a week. So, she uses our treadmill. We both found that we can challenge each other and it helps us both! She is up to doing 1.5 miles in about 17 minutes, I did it in about 16 minutes. I have to give her credit because she did it at an incline. Of course...I try to take into account that she is 13 and I am 46! Two years ago, I would have never believed that I could actually run for one mile....now I am actually running for several miles, then I walk for a mile and then run again. It doesn't happen overnight, it takes a while to build up your endurance.

I don't usually make New Year's resolutions, but this year it is going to be to stay off the cigarettes. I quit in October, but honestly (especially in the past week), I have come SO close to buying a pack. I don't know why I'm craving them so much, but I am actually dreaming that I'm smoking and trying to hide it from my mother. I haven't lived at home in over 35 years!

I always make the same resolution: I resolve to be the best person I can be next year. And every year I do a little better than the year before!

I never make them, but..... I would love to walk more.. exercise more. I have started doing stretching exercises. It has really helped loosen my back up and make me feel better in general.

The only resolution I've ever kept was several years ago I said I'd never make them anymore. And, I haven't! They seemed to always be the same and were always broken. So, I don't worry with it anymore.

I have a couple. I would like to take better care of myself-make an effort to eat more healthy, and cut out a lot of the bad stuff. I also plan to work every substitute teacher job that comes my way this year, and keep better tabs on the checkbook. I am so sick of being stressed out over $$. I have two more resolutions, but they really depend on that last one-I would like to take a family vacation (It's been a while), and I would like to get a tummy tuck this summer. I think that's enough...2009 can't get here fast enough for me-I am so OVER 2008!

I would like to get more organized this year. I tend to save everything which results in too much clutter.
