I regifted a beautiful burgundy colored suit that I had bought at 75% off. I had planned on having it altered but never did. It was brand new, never worn and much too tight on me. It was easier and cheaper for me to regift than get a refund. She got a much better gift than she would have if I had bought something else because I don't spend nearly as much as the suit was worth full price.

I had two Starbucks gift sets that I received that I was all ready to re-gift in case somebody came over with a gift that I wasn't expecting, but alas they are still here. I love Starbucks, but I didn't need the gift-y type set....ya know?

Hmmmm that gives me an idea....anyone want to start a re-gift trade thread???

Hmmm... I would have regifted a clay southwestern looking windchime that I received except that the giver wrote in permanent marker on it and it has a porous surface. Now that I've not been able to regift it, it has grown on me.

I did regift a CD that I bought last year. I burned it onto the computer before I wrapped it. I gave it in a white elephant gift exchange and so used items were okay.

I've never re-gifted but did consider it this year. I changed my mind after finding something else for my sister-in-law, though. I was going to give her a gift card to Sam Moon that she and my brother had given me either last year or the year before. LOL! It's not that I don' like that store, it's just that I don't live too close to it so I just haven't had a chance to go.

It wasn't me that re-gift items, but it's so funny that my kids got items that were sent to my niece's kids.

Around Thanksgiving my mom called me to ask if I had any toys my niece could have for her boys since money is very very tight for her right now. Her hubby hasn't held a job in nearly 18 months ( Dont ask, he's just sorry and lazy ).but any hoot, I went up to the attic and pulled everything down to go Thur so I could see what I had for the boy's ages. Well low and behold I found tons of toys for them. Well went to pick my mom for Thanksgiving and dropped the toys off at her apt. Next thing I hear is my niece and her hubby are going out of town to a friend that has offered to give them a 1000.00 from a settlement he won. OK thinking thats nice they can get some bills paid and buy some Christmas for the boys. Well 1 part was true the presents for the boys LOL. OK fast forward to Christmas day here.Kids open up their gifts from mom and my niece and wouldn't ya know there's the same toys I sent to her sent back to my kids for presents.. I was SHOCKED to see the toys. I didn't say anything and the kids didn't know any different so I let it be. But I found it so funny, I haven't stopped laughing every time I see one of the toys .. So thats our re gift story 1 time ever that I have known about a item being re-gifted back to us.

I don't see anything wrong with regifting as long as the item is new and in it's original packaging. I also wouldn't mind someone regifting something I gave them. I am on a constant quest to declutter my house, so any gifts I receive of the "clutter" nature go immediately into the thrift sale box. This year I gave all my co-workers cake ball truffles and rolo pretzels so I wouldn't be contributing to their clutter either!

Usually I do regift. It's usually smelling Bath and Body works gift sets that I don't like (I am very particular about my scents and what I like). I have also regifted gift certs in the past. I once got a gift card that I know was regifted because when I called the # on the card to check the balance before I used it, I was told it had expired a few days prior and "didn't I know I only had 1 year from the date of purchase to use it". I never the told the gifter. It didn't really bother me too much. Just glad I called to verify the balance.

I didn't regift this year. I cut WAY back on gifts.Just stuff for the kids, my parents (who picked out their own house slippers) and my brother. Pretty easy.

That's why when re-gifting gift cards, I use the one I have to "buy" a new one. That way, I also get a new folder and/or the chance to pick a card appropriate to the occasion or the recipient.
