What are your New Years eve plans?

We had a great time last year going to a casino that is about 40 min away. We have a closer one but really like this one. I was really shocked how many people were there. We will probably eat in one of the restaurants before we go into the casino. They have a great buffet and a Jack Rubys. They gave away hats and noisemakers and it was really fun can't wait to go again.

We are going to our square dance club's New Year's Eve party.
All kinds of dancing, great food, good friends, and a fun time for all.
It makes me nervous that it is an hour away, and altho we will not be drinking, the "other guy" might be.

HAPPY AND SAFE NEW YEAR TO ALL!

The casino sounds like fun! We're going to a friend's party--it will our first New Years since David has been sober...he's going on 9 months, and I am VERY proud of him. He has arranged to work New Year's Day, too, so that we can't be out late! My birthday is tomorrow (tax deduction baby) so that's when we really celebrate! We're going to a restaurant on Magazine Street, going to mull around in the Quarter for a bit, and then we're going to the Hornets game--David and myself and four of our closest friends! The tickets were a birthday gift from the parents of a student in my class! Happy New Year, everyone!

I think we are just staying in for a quiet evening here. I am going to bake a vegetarian lasagne and hopefully get dh to pick up a bottle of champagne- or two.

We were thinking about inviting everyone over for a get together- with wine an appetizers- but we sort of just did that Saturday- so maybe later in the month instead.

Wink

As always taking in a movie going out to dinner with our children and their boyfriends and my ds girlfriend. Then come home and they will have some more friends over and watch the ball from Times Square in our den. Nothing special just family and friends. Next day 1/1/09 the tree and decorations come down, because my dh;s birthday is right after new years we then decorate and have a party for him as we do for all the members in our family. Peace. We usually just stay home. We have three kids (13, 11 & 5) so we just usually hang out at home and stuff ourselves with yummy foods we don't normally eat and fall asleep.

Sounds like our plans. My cousin is getting married in Newport, KY, so we plan on heading to Argosy afterwards, I think. We live about 2 hours away. I prefer Beleterra, but it's too far! LOL

oooo I love square dancing!

We will all stay home, dd and ds and dh. We love having our traditional steak fondue with interesting dipping sauces. Along with all kinds of crazy snacks. We get along so well we just love spending it quietly together!

A nice quiet evening at home with my hubby. We are such big partiers LOL we usually fall asleep before midnight then say Happy New Year when one of us gets up to use the bathroom. You might think we are in our 70s but no we are not!
That is what happens when your husband gets up at 4:30 am every morning for work! We are used to it and start getting sleepy around 8 or 9 pm.

Are we boring? LOL

I don't like to be out on the roads on New Year's Eve. That's just not a risk I am willing to take. We will stay home, probably order pizza, and have a Monopoly tournament. I told my son he could invite a friend to sleep over if he wanted so they could play video games.

jasmom... we are going to Belterra, We do go Argosy too, but it is so much more crowded. We are less then 15 min from Argosy, and Belterra is about 40 min away, but we prefer it. I am not a big drinker and dh normally drinks very little if at all while at the casino so we decided to make the trip.

Mine is boring. I work NYE and then have to be back at work early on NYD. Plus DH is working also. So.......After I get home from work it's take a shower and get ready for bed. WOOHOO!!!! Don't know if I can handle the excitement! IF we did go out, DH would have my car keys because NYE is usually the only time I drink (hey....1 or 2 and I'm done for....I'm such a cheap date). It really doesn't bother me if we go out or not. At least being home, I know I don't have to look out for the other "drunk" drivers.

Sounds just like what we're doing although our kids are a bit older (17, 15, and 12). The older two might go over a friends house. I'll get out the bag of hats and noisemakers. DH and I are just going to stay here and eat all kinds of snacks. I'll probably go to Trader Joe's and pick up a bunch of different things. We'll watch Dick Clark and the ball drop in Times Square. That is one the things on my "bucket list"...to spend New Years Eve in Times Square. I think it would be so amazing. ~Lisa

Staying home here as well. I don't like the idea of being out there with the "others" who are drinking. We'll have a meal of shrimp in garlic butter sauce with lots of Italian bread to soak up the butter and appetizers before and afterwards. Hopefully, we'll get some champaigne beofre the big night. (We've just been too busy lately!)

I plan on hanging out with a German friend of mine who insist that we watch a movie called "Dinner for One" he says it's a German custom every New Year's Eve. Hopefully I'll remember to pick up some sparkling grape juice, since i don't drink.

The same Ole same Ole as usual. Staying home. I have not been out with dh but 1 time in 12 years. We went to see TSO last year. DD always ask us to babysit and ALWAYS promises to gift the favor back to me with babysitting her brothers and sisters, But that has YET to happen.

So I'll do snacks and finger foods, watch movies till the count down and then off to bed we'll go.
Yes we have such EXCITING lives

We're having another couple over for dinner and we'll play cards. I don't want to be on the roads with all the drinkers on New Year's Eve.

Wow...it sounds like everyone has a fun night planned. I think we are going up to my sisters house for the evening. They live next door and we get together with them and several other friends and eat, drink and play games all night. It usually ends with us dancing with our young daughters (ages 12/13) to brown eyed girl. Its become a tradition. My oldest daughter and her hubby will also be going. We are happy he will be able to join us, because he has missed the last few New Years Eve parties because he was out to sea with his job!

We are having a small get together in our home with 4 or 5 families...kids are coming too. We'll play board games, card games, rock band, Wii and whatever else they bring. The evites told everyone this was an appetizer, desser and game party. If anyone drinks they are more than welcome to stay the night here. (we always mention this a few times, in fact have had a few mornings after the party where there are lots of people for breakfast)

Happy New Year to all!

Change of plans. We have been getting calls all day inquiring on our plans. it seems no one has anywhere to go, so I guess we are now having a little get together for friends. I am thinking appetizers (no idea what yet) and champagne/ wine.Hopefully his friends don't complain too much they are big rum drinkers but I am not really feeling that scene- we kind of did that last week- plus our landlords have lots of rules so i dont want it to get too rowdy.

I'll be in bed at around 10pm because I have to be at work at 4am on New Years Day.

Yup, I'm a party animal.

Does anyone else believe that whatever you're doing at Midnight NYE is what you'll be doing the rest of the year??
It's not true.. I've done different things at that time.. kiss, asleep, being sick etc.. and my years were never full of those things
