I've had both actually. Reglazing is a temporary solution at best, while the liner will probably last 15 years or more if you take care of it properly (use recommended cleaning products only). The liner can also be re-polished if it becomes dull. In my experience, reglazing will last a couple of years at most. Prices in Montreal, Canada : about $400 for reglazing, and about $1500 for a liner (more if you decide to add a shower surroud). Frankly, if you have the cash, go for the liner. |

We've thought about reglazing or a liner, but think we'll just start fresh. Kellyjef, for us, the issue is that while the tub itself would be less than the cost of re-doing the current avocado green tub, in our house the demolition and re-building that we'd have to do to get the current tub out and replaced would ultimately make that a more expensive option. |

We had a liner because our house was built in 1951. It was the original bathtub and I think it was brought in and then the walls were built around it. We had Empire Today do it. They also did the walls and some plumbing work. It was $3200 but it was the best money we every spent. We did the rest, changed the toilet, sink, cabinet, walls, floor. Our friend put in a vent. It still looks beautiful after 1 1/2 years.
