I'm sad, just took down the Christmas tree

Our tree was so beautiful this year, I hated to take it down but I needed to get it done. It was a frasier fir and still very, very fresh. I have the day off from babysitting because we have a snow day so I took advantage of the free time to get it done. Anyone else still have their tree up? I'm having some regrets about not waiting until this weekend to do it but it would eat up a whole day.

Last year's tree had something wrong with it and all the needles fell off. We're talking Charlie Brown tree so I had to take it down on Christmas night because we were leaving for several days and were afraid it would catch fire. THAT was depressing.

It sounds like it was beautiful!

Mine isn't a real tree - it's from "Target Farms"...LOL.

I miss the character and smell of a real tree. I'll bet you had a more authentic feel in your house because if it. That's why you miss it now. So it made for an extra special Christmas!

Mine's still up - I was waiting for Jesus' baptism (I think that's 1/09...)

It's still Christmas to me!

Yes, but I've tried taking it down several times to no avail! Everytime I try, DH says he wants it for just a few more days! He has promised me that on Friday night he'll help take it down!

We took out tree down last night........started out a fun affair, but by the end of it, I was saying it's the last year we'll have a tree!

I have always wanted a real tree, but between the kids and my allergies it will never happen. It is always sort of sad when we take the tree down, and put all the decorations up. The house always looks bare to me. I was really hoping that we would be able to leave the tree up till DH got back from Iraq, but oldest DS was getting upset about the tree being up with Christmas being over.

I know I probably sound like the Grinch, but I have never taken down my tree earlier than I did this year. Usually I wait til DH gets around to it, but this year, I was ready to go out w/ the old, and in with the new. We didn't even put the guy up until 2 days before Christmas (artificial tree). It did look nice, and I truly felt blessed w/ all the handmade ornaments-most from the kids, and a lot from several MC'ers. I just couldn't get "into" Christmas this year. So yes, the tree is down, ornaments packed, and all is upstairs waiting for DH to put away in the attic. Bah humbug!

I have a co-worker who takes her tree down on Christmas day while her kids are opening up gifts! Good grief, what a tradition for the kids to remember. She says she is so busy this is the only time she has to do it.

I hate taking my tree down, usually wait for DH to do it. Sometimes it stays up as late as MLK day (fake of course)

Why is it that before Christmas, looking at the tree makes me feel all warm and fuzzy, but the day after I want to chuck the whole thing out the window every time I even glance at that corner.
