Question Ever Wonder What It's Like To Be REALLY Cold?

I just found this really interesting blog about life in Tok, Alaska. They recently had temperatures down to -80!

The blog is here:
Living in Tok Alaska: Social Media Capital of the World

And I was going to complain because the temperature in central Florida will be in the mid 30's by Thursday.

I have never experienced 80 below but where I grew up it was often forty below in the winter- especially jan-feb. Brrr..let's just say walking home from school was not exactly pleasant on those days.

In particular I remember one year I visited my dad during february vacation. When I left the house it was about 45 below when I landed in california it was 60. What a difference.

I remember temps way below zero growing up. I remember frost forming on the inside of the house on the electrical outlets and at the bottom of the doors. We would hit -40 at least a few times every winter. Brr. Glad I live in a slightly more moderate climate where it gets cold but almost never below 0 and rarely in the teens except at night.

Bite me

LOL!!!!

I wish I was back in Cali as well. The weather there is so nice. Right now, here near Chicago, it is SO COLD. It is nothing to have 30 below wind chills.

Is that minus 80 actual temperature, virgo??

Yup. Unbelievable isn't it?!

We're about to have a temperature drop of 40+ degrees. Yesterday it was 80 and by Thursday morning it will be 36. I keep telling my husband we should have moved further south.

That's cold enough for me!

I was just thinking I guess I shouldn't be complaining how cold it will be here tonight. I'm also in WI, they are saying negative 35-40. Most schools have already cancelled for tomorrow.

It's pretty darn cold here too. I think the high tomorrow is supposed to be 8 below which would be warm for those Alaskans! I bet not many people live there. I have a friend who lives in Anchorage and their temps aren't much different than here.

If you don't have a basment (and maybe if you even do!), let those faucets drip!!!

Showoff! Braggy Braggerson! LOL

I am wearing long undies IN THE HOUSE! It's 28 that is cold enough for me I cannot imagine negative 80. I mean does it even feel colder past a certain point? What do people do when they have to go to work? What about your car? YIKES!!!
