What Are You Reading?

Besides MyCoupons, of course!

What books are you reading?

I just finished The Winter of Our Discontent by John Steinbeck and I'm about to start Twilight. DD got the Twilight books for Christmas and read them all in less than a week. Now my book group is reading the first one for our next selection. We usually don't pick "fluff" books but we thought we would give it a try.

So, what are you reading? Like it? Hate it? Recommend it?

I've read the first 2 books in the Twilight. I'm currently on a VERY long waiting list for the 3rd one. I went to go buy it at the stores and they were all sold out. I enjoyed the Twilight books.

Eclipse...the 3rd book in the Twilight series. Isn't it funny how many of us adults are reading this series that was intended for teens??

Riding the Bus with My Sister...by Rachel Simon

Rachel Simon's sister Beth is a spirited woman who lives intensely and often joyfully. Beth, who has mental retardation, spends her days riding the buses in her Pennsylvania city. The drivers, a lively group, are her mentors; her fellow passengers are her community. One day, Beth asked Rachel to accompany her on the buses for an entire year. This wise, funny, deeply affecting book is the chronicle of that remarkable time. Rachel, a writer and college teacher whose hyperbusy life camouflaged her emotional isolation, had much to learn in her sister's extraordinary world. These are life lessons from which every reader can profit: how to live in the moment, how to pay attention to what really matters, how to change, how to love—and how to slow down and enjoy the ride. Elegantly woven throughout the odyssey are riveting memories of terrifying maternal abandonment, fierce sisterly loyalty, and astonishing forgiveness. Rachel Simon brings to light the almost invisible world of mental retardation, finds unlikely heroes in everyday life, and, without sentimentality, portrays Beth as the endearing, feisty, independent person she is. This heartwarming book about the unbreakable bond between two very different sisters takes the reader on an inspirational journey at once unique and universal.

I read 2 books last week

Scarpetta- By Patricia Cornwell
The Keepsake- Bt Tess Gerristen

I love both of these authors and have everyone of their books.
Scarpetta was good but I think it could have been a bit better.
The Keepsake was good.

So far my favorite books have been The Mephisto Club and The Bone Garden both by Tess Gerristen.

Today I picked up " Loving Natalee" by Beth Holloway...it is sad , but interesting to read.

I read "Plum Spooky", Janet Evanovich's latest Stephanie Plum book last week. It was a great laugh. I can't wait for 15 this summer.

I'm currently running through Rachel Gibson's romance books. They're really cute and fun.

I also read the whole Twilight saga and LOVED them. I really didn't expect to, but I'm happy I gave them a try. I've passed my copies to about 20 people since I finished and I'm converting fans left and right.

I just finished all of the Twilight books. They had me hooked from the first novel and I couldn't read them fast enough. I couldn't wait to get back to them each time I had to put one down. If you go to her website you can read a rough draft of the fifth novel that she may never release.

I just read "Remember Me" by Sophie Kinsella, and I have "Marley and Me" to read.

Thanks Reneelaufer for mentioning the newest Stephanie Plum novel, I LOVE THOSE!!! I'm gonna buy that one an read this weekend.

I just finished Runway Runaway. My friend in Cali got it for me; she also had it autographed by the author. She was engaged to someone in my fav band (he passed away). It was very insightful as to how he really was and not just was the media told us about him. As for my next book....Hmmmmm.....Might dig out one of my Stephen King books that I've bought but haven't read yet. Actually, I should be reading my text book/study guide for school since I've been slacking a bit.

Nothing at the moment but I finished a week ago the Pagan stone by Nora Roberts. It was the 3rd in a trilogy. Was a great book!

I have several hundred books here to read . I am thinking my next book will be a Dorothy Garlock book.

What did you think of Middlesex? It was my book group selection last year and I really liked it. So many different layers to it -- I thought it was great.

I finished all the Twilight series last week and started on "The Lucky One" by Nicholas Sparks. Read that one in a day.......VERY GOOD BOOK, one that I couldn't put down. (As well as the Twilight series).

Not sure what's next, have a few on hold at the library so will see which one comes first.

I read "The Lucky One" a couple of weeks ago, and was like you and couldn't put it down. Very good book! I don't think I've read a Nicholas Sparks book that I didn't like though "Sundays at Tiffany's" by James Patterson is another good one.

I am currently reading Eclipse...the 3rd book in the Twilight series. I am number 4 on a waiting list for Breaking Dawn. I am enjoying the Twilight series (a lot more than I thought). I have several Jodi Picoult books to read, too.

The Stink Files?

Has anyone read any of the "Stink Files"? I can;t remember where I ran across these, but so far haven't had any luck even find the two I have - #1 and #2 - much less finding out if there are anymore. These are probably more for young teens, but they are so cute I read both in one night.

I have also read almost all of the Janet Evanovich books and just love them
