What's your favorite daytime TV show when you're home sick?

Daytime TV is sooo bad. I'm usually not home during the day because I work outside the home. I'm recovering from surgery right now and don't have a lot of energy. I can't believe how bad daytime TV is!

About the only show I can stand is Ellen. (It doesn't help that we only have basic cable, I guess.)

So, what's your favorite show to watch during the day when you're home sick?

I'm no help, when my TV is on during the day it's usually on Nick Jr.

I listen to the radio (while I work). I don't watch anything on regular TV. If I have time, I watch stuff I DVR'd or movies on cable. If the TV is not on a movie, it's HGTV or Food network. When my kids were home, it was disney and nick jr. I don't watch talk shows or soaps and I hate the judge shows.

Ugh. I hate the judge shows too and the "Maury" type shows. "Help - my 10 year old daughter is a whore and doesn't know who the father of her child is." That crap has to be made up 90% of the time.

I've never gotten into soaps.

Every time I was "recovering from surgery" (which for me is about two days before I go nuts), I lived on shows in HGTV; anything that dealt with cleaning, organizing, redecorating or remodeling.

By day 3, I was planning projects. By day 4, I was shopping and by day 5, I was digging in.

I make a really bad sick person! Went back to work four days after a hysterectomy. Probably a good thing for my DH and kids!

I don't get to stay home and watch daytime TV very often....but when I do, I don't mind it being mindless....actually enjoy the break from having to be on my game....soooo, I watch TV judges all day long....it makes me feel like I have a wonderful life! (well, and that there are a a helluva lot of screwed up people/relationships out there!)

reruns of Little House on the Prarie (I think it comes on the Hallmark channel here).
Martha Stewart (I *like* her, I do miss her having her mom on the show, though)
CNN or MSNBC (I just like to have it on for background noise while I nap)

Have you ever noticed this, or is it just me? I'll turn on either one of those channels at night and fall asleep. So the news runs over and over all night. Then when I get up in the morning, read some news online, I realize I already knew the stuff. My brain just soaks that stuff up even while sleeping.

I am lucky enough to be able to work at different hours mostly of my choosing and I have DVR so I get to watch my daytime shows if not when on then on Sundays when I am relaxing and there is really nothing on tv.
In the morning (up at 5 to make my husband's lunch and talk to him while he gets ready for work) I watch The Golden Girls, Frasier, then I watch part of Today, Regis & Kelly, The View, Judge Karen, Christina's Court, Judge Mathis, The People's Court, According to Jim, My Wife and Kids, Dr Phil, Judge Judy (Oprah is on but I DVR it), then the evening sitcoms and prime time shows, then back to Frasier and The Golden Girls, if I am up until 11 that is, and that is my tv watching day.
I don't tape or watch them all. I DVR the Regis and View in case there is something interesting that people are talking about (same with Leno) so I can catch up later and the rest I may or may not watch at all. I don't want people thinking I sit around all day watching tv LOL
Although I am one of those that keeps it on in the background whether watching or not.
I grew up in the 60s and 70s and watched a hell of a lot of tv. I don't think it made me stupid it broadened my horizons much the same as all the books I read and the different types of schooling I attended. When taken as part of a full life it made me more well rounded and educates me to this day on things I would not know otherwise.
God Bless TV! LOL and only half joking!

especially, if I'm just doing the naptime thing (doze off and on)--and then when I hear it later, I'm like "I already knew that! Where did I hear that?"

I have been home since the first of December. I have never really been a TV person but I have gotten into Food Network it runs in the background all day here. The nice thing is when I do sit down to watch it I actually learn something.

I usually watch my soap and then switch over to Law & Order. Might check to see if there's a movie I like on one of the channels or go to Food TV.

While on Winter Break I would get up early, drink my coffee and watch How Clean is Your House and You are What You Eat on BBC. I still can't believe how disgusting the houses were ~ yuck!

Being a sub, I don't work everyday. So, when I am not working...I usually try to watch Ellen, The Young and Restless (I usually am on the treadmill while watching this one) and Guiding Light. On the days that I do work, I usually can catch the Young and the Restless reruns from the previous days show on the Soap Network at 6 am. Once and a while I will catch the View, but they usually start getting on my nerves after about ten minutes...

I have been home w/ the flu all week, and have been watching stuff that has just been turning my brain into mush. I do start the day w/ GMA, and I do enjoy that, and then I do watch Live w/ Regis and Kelly until they do the wheel game, then I have been nodding off (have not been sleeping at all the past few nights), and wake up a bit into Rachel Ray. I watch her for a few mins., then all of a sudden, I wake up to The View. I gaze at them a few mins. more, then we are into the news....After that, apparently, I'm on my own. I'm happy to watch a few episodes of House Hunters, Nanny 911, or Wife Swap. That will get me to Maury (Who Yo' Baby Daddy Is?), and then we get Oprah, and Dr. Phil...I have a theory. I think all of these talk shows are infiltrating our society w/ various bugs and viruses. If I had not been sick this week, I would have only watched one or two shows. Instead, I get a bug, and I watch them all.

No set show. I look for movies I might want to see. If there's nothing in the movie category, I usually move on to any comedies, like Frasier, All In The Family, Golden Girls, etc.

Little House On The Prairie is good, or The Waltons. Reminds me of when I was a very little girl.
