Do you have swap meets where you live?

When we were in California, we drove by a swap meet and I begged my dh and sis to stop so I could check it out.

We had to pay .50 to get in, each. I was so pleasantly surprised and WISH that we had something like this near us!!
I went nuts buying fruits and veggies. The homemade salsas, tortillas and even the stand that sold home made mexican foods (what are those things wrapped in corn?? Slips my mind, but OMG they are wonderful!!!) just blew my mind.

I bought a 5 pound bag of mandarin oranges for only $2, avocados for .25 each (they were gross tho and not the right ones for guac or eating.. ick), homemade salsa, tortillas, sugar cane (don't ask me why, it was novel at the time..LOL) and other items.

They had all kinds of stuff everywhere! shirts, odds and ends, etc.

Do you love to visit these? Do you have them near you?

Do you mean tamales?

In our local area we have several Farmers Markets where you can buy all the fresh produce & homemade foods. Entrance is always free. Then we have a huge "Swap Meet" that you pay $1 to enter and it is all vendors selling mostly commercial products (but usually cheaper). It's been years since I've been a "real" swap meet where people are selling antiques, brick-a-brac, etc.

Tamales! Yes!!! Thanks Zoobie!

This one was in Hemet, CA right on the outside of the new Dam they built out there (by Winchester). It wasn't that big, but OMG.. what I wouldn't give for some of that salsa and another bag of those oranges..... we just can't get that stuff here.

We have flea markets here that offer a variety of different things. Most offer fresh produce in season, home baked goods, new and mostly junky merchandise, garage sale type items and usually people selling avon/amway/etc. Oh and food vendors selling stuff like hot dogs and fries.
There's usually a small charge to get in, $1 or so, and more often than not you find something good, usually produce or home baked goodies.

I like flea markets. They remind me of a fair without the animals and rides.

I grew up in the Bay Area my dad made a lot of money at Flea Markets which is what we called them. There is only one around here it's small and I haven't heard of anything lately it may not even be around anymore! It was like a huge garage sale where you could get great stuff used and new and bargain for stuff.
I loved it! My dad made a lot of money buying out estate sales and garage sales and selling at the Flea Market on weekends. That man worked seven days a week but this work was fun to him.
