Do you use eye cream?

I have been moisturizing with a heavier moisturizer now that it's winter, but I have found that lately, the skin right beneath my eyes is chapping/flaking. Do you use an eye cream? What works for you?
For skin care, I use the Clinique 3-step system.

I use the same cleansing program (Clinique), but I use Lancome's Eye system (cream and corrector).

I don't find that the Lancome is doing very well, and I am not getting the desired effect I was hopng for. I have been using it for almost two years, so no excuse for it not to be working well.
One thing I don't have are crows feet (knock on wood!), but the puffiness under my eyes has not gotten better.

I am going to switch to Estee Lauder and see if that works better. I have always trusted Estee Lauder. Their products are wonderful!

Maybe I shouldn't admit this.. but I don't put anything on my face but water! No soap, no creams. I do use make-up but only when I go somewhere, like shopping or an appt.

Do facial creams really make a difference?

Oh my little naive Susie--whether you are young or old, wrinkled or smooth, fat or skinny, ugly or beautiful....you get my point...you must moisturize. The elements, age, hormones, diet, it all affects your skin and remember taking care of yourself is not simply something you do to look good now. Taking care of yourself in so many ways also helps to ensure that when you are older you will be vital, healthy, happy and able to still enjoy life!
If you drink plenty of water and eat healthy fat sources like olive oil and salmon you should be able to use a simple routine of putting something on your face every morning and evening after washing. And try using a facial bar or wash it doesn't cost more than soap especially if you go to Walgreen's during sales with coupons.

I use this on my face
Day Cream

And this on my shoulders, knees, elbows, and chest
Deliciously Rich Body Butter
These carrot products are great they absorb into the skin as they are all organic and priced about the same as other skin products. I got them for B1G11/2O and she had coupons for $3 off! So I made a killing and ended up getting two of each for less than the price of 1.
I use this too
Lip Butters
in mint

Right now I am washing my face with this
St. Ives Elements - Protective Cleanser
It was $7 with a register reward of $5 to use on anything my next visit

I am not just singing a song girls! I look at least 15 yrs younger than I am I take care of my skin as far as I know if it gets ruined there is no way to replace it! Just like my health.

No, I don't use eye cream. I think that most of those skin care products are such a waste of money. My grandmother only used Ivory soap and she had the softest skin I've ever seen...up until she died when she was 92! I do use lotion on my legs and hands. I've only always used just plain soap and water. I have nice skin. I think that since I've used foundation since I was young, that has helped keep my skin in good shape. I'm 45 and don't have any wrinkles. I have friends who looked great in their 20's with their tans...now they look like wrinkled up prunes. Alot of them also smoked which ages you too I believe. I did use some Mary Kay and Oil of Olay products at one time. I liked those. ~Lisa

Well... I drink only water.. I only use olive oil and take fish oil tabs, since I think I don't eat enough fish. I don't drink alcohol, never smoked. I also stay out of the sun as much as possible.. my granny got skin cancer just from gardening.. I don't want that happening to me! I am 41 and I don't have wrinkles either.
I think what goes into your body is more important than what goes on your body.

Now my mom.. she only drank coffee and pepsi.. she smoked from age 16 to 70 she didn't have a good diet nor did she take any vitamins or supplements.. and her skin was dry and scaly she used to rub baby oil on herself every morning and it still didn't help. She used to say her skin was so dry it hurt

I have been using Oil of Olays regeneist, and I really like it. My daughter gave it to me for Christmas because she knew that I would never spend $25 for an eye cream. I highly recommend it.

I would like to sign up to be in your apprentice program, Anna...

In the meanwhile, I agree - you look incredibly young - I was just marveling today that you mentioned that you have a college-aged kid...I don't think you look old enough! LOL!

I was blessed with my mother's (and her mother's) skin. No soaps, little moisturizer and makeup when I leave the house. I look ten years younger than I am. Gotta love good skin and good genetics.

Wow Anna! I'll have what you're having as well!!

I think a LOT has to do with genetics, as well. But, a little help never hurts!

I have to tell a story. When I did EKG's in the hospital there was this little old woman at least around 86 that came in for an EKG. She was all of 80 lbs soaking wet.
When I went to put the electrodes on her legs, I noticed how incredibly soft, like silk, they were. I was almost afraid the electrodes would peel her skin off!
Now, knowing that as we age, our skin becomes more leather-like, I had to comment on her skin. So I told her "Mam, I am not being funny here, but you have the softest legs I have ever seen! What do you you use on your legs?"
She laughed a bit and said "oh my, I don't use anything. Well, actually, I have always used Oil of Olay since I was a young woman in my 20's and any that was left over on my hands I would just wipe on my legs"

Uh, that sold me.

Oil of Olay IS awesome stuff!!!!

I have to echo what a beauty expert I saw on TV said one time:

You don't have to buy the most expensive creams for your face, just whatever you buy use LOTS of it. That is the key. Use an SPF moisturizer to protect from the elements. This should be started earlier than later if you live in Sunny areas (start as early as age 12!!! to protect from the signs of aging that they are now seeing in teen girls in these areas).
So there ya go. Just bathe yourself in it when you use it. Don't be sparing with it!!

Chapstick: As Anna pointed out, I want to say more on this. I knew a man that had used chapstick cherry every day since he was a kid.
He had absolutely NO wrinkles around his mouth.

I started using chapstick every day about 5 years ago, for this reason.

The best way I have learned is by stopping women who have beautiful skin, that are older, and asking their secrets.
More times than not, what I hear is "estee Lauder" "Oil of Olay" and "genetics".

Secrets are:

Cleanse
Tone
Moisturize

Then add on as you want. But do this twice a day. I am bad about doing it twice a day, but at least do it once a day.
I also use a make up remover before I use soap (clinique), because if you tone (Clinique), you will notice that just using soap does not take off all of your makeup. Look at your cotton ball!
By the way, the Clinique three step system is VERY cheap! Make sure you check this out before you decide on another system.
I do not use their moisturizer though.. Just the make up remover, bar soap and toner.

I am going to also be checking out Oil of Olay Rejenerist.. there is a $5 coupon right now on oil of olays website. (Just saw it on TV).

Thanks you guys for the compliments! I have a 25 yr old son in college. I will be 50 in 2012.

What goes in is just as important as what goes on.

My Mom uses Regenerist by Oil of Olay she swears by it and she looks much younger than her 70something years. This of course is also due to her diet.
And yes Kathy also genetics that is the luck of the draw!

Whatever you use it's true you have to clean your face first. Gently! And drink lots of water.
Believe it or not corny as it sounds also having some sort of spirituality helps and having some way to effectively deal with the stress and pressures of daily life helps!

I have to get some of that Oil of Olay Regenerist...I keep hearing such good things about it...It sounds like a great product...As I said, I don't really use much, but this isn't that expensive as some stuff in the department stores...And it seems like everyone loves it. ~Lisa
