it all started at about 2 a.m. this morning, she was really not herself all day, she seemed uncomfortable and not eating and not right. We all knew the time was near to her to give birth. Needless to say she started crying or more like moaning like she was in real pain. This lasted for about a hour and she was trying to push and honestly all we saw was blood and a bit of a puppy at the canal. So we waited and then finally called the vet and he advised we bring her in. He deceided that one of the 2 puppies was stuck in the birth canal. He pushed in back in and then decided to do a emergency c-section. Sushine had a fever and it all happened so fast. They did the c-section and the other puppy Sanibel a girl was born ok but a bit distressed , however sadly I am crying so much the other puppy was stuck in the birth canal too long and was born dead. They tried to save the other puppy which was also a girl and we named her Sierra . Sushine lost too much blood and they had to perform a hysterectomy on her. She is better but still sick and needs to stay in the vet hospital for 2 days at least.I just go back and she is feeding baby Sanibel. She is sooooo beautiful so small a 1pound 6 ounce sheltie.. Needless to say we has a family are so heartbbroken , not only for the lost puppy but for Sushine for the thought of what could have happened to her. So please send some prayers for her to be on the mend and I offer a prayer to baby angel sheltie Sierra in heaven... Peace. Catherine

update on my babies . We all just got back from the vets office both mom and baby sheltie Sanibel are doing well. We are so happy and can now rest. The vet believes they will come home tomorrow to Daddy Simba and daughter Sunshine. However our hearts are all so sad for the loss of Sierra the other sheltie puppy. We all just believe she is with our other shelties in heaven... Are not dogs the best animals in the world. If you own one give them a extra hug or kiss tonite... Peace. Catherine

Yes nancy thanks so much sweetie they are my babies. I always tell all my animals its not the mommy who gave birth to you , its me the mommy who takes care of them every and each day. However it is truly sad , but we all tried our best to save Sierra's life, I guess God needed her in puppy heaven more.However like I said before Mommy Sunshine and baby Sanibel are doing so much better. YIkes tomorrow I will have 4 shelties in our home. I always say someday I want to have a bigger place with more yard space I could fill a house with Shetland sheepdogs.. devinmom I totally agree and so does caddylisa she also loves shelties.. They are truly truly so beautiful and am totally blessed to have 4 in our lives right now. So sierra baby is in heaven with our other shelties who have passed away Bambi our first lived to 14 years old, then Merlin the crazy football girl lover passed away from cancer at 8 years old and then Cassie at 12 years old from cancer as well... Rest in heaven sweet angels, hey anyone have the link to the rainbow bridge poem about our animals babies who have gone on to heaven. devinmom thanks so much for the link to the rainbow bridge as I said i knew before I even opened it I would be crying. However my babies are home now mom and little tiny sheltie baby sanibel. Sunshine's other dd Sunny does not know what to do with herself, she is trying to hard to her doggy mommy so today while sunshine tends to the puppy we are all giving Sunny lotsa luv . As far as Simba the dad well he has not stopped crying and trying also to be next to all of them.. He must be saying to himself now I have all these females to deal with lol... I think our whole family has lost track and how many times we each have held baby sheltie Sanibel and talk about baby kisses we have lost track, but again while I am the suppossed grandma to Sanibel when she grows up I will be her mom as I am to Sunshine, Simba and Sunny. Of course I cannot forget my cats Minnie Me Daisy and Cinderella.. Peace.. Catherine
