I just snapped in K mart..

I was shopping at a Kmart here and had the WORST experience. Mind you this store is literally 2 minutes from my house so it is easy to run to. But I dont think I will ever ever step foot in there again...

First of all, there is a worker, wearing a hoodie SHOOTING BASKETBALL in the sporting goods section... Dribbling the ball and the bouncing was so irritating. I didnt realize he was a worker becuse he had a hoodie on with the hood on and a hat with a price tag over it...

Then I get to the check out. There are signs all over that say "Take an additional 40% off clearance clothing" I had a jacket for DD. The cashier rang it up and I asked about the discount. She said "I was told to charge what it rang up... the original price is 20 and it is marked down to 9 so that is 40% off." I explained wht the sign said and she said "I was told to charge what it rang." I then asked her to please double check and she said that is not what the sign said. I then asked again for her to check with someone in that department and she stormed away to the phone and said," Shes gonna tell me the same damn thing she just told me." I then told her I was sorry that I was asking her to go out of her way however I thought that was part of her job. She rolled her eyes and acted like she was being so put out.. She spoke with someone on the phone and said the she confirmed that the 9.00 was 40% off 20.00. I asked her to please double check her math becAuse if that was her argument then she was clearly wrong...
I spoke to the manager and informed her of what happened. She did apologize however I also let her know I would never step foot in there again. I think I am also going to let the corporate office know because this store is slowly going to go down. The really sad part is I was in there to price a new washer and dryer and was going to come back with DH to buy them. Now they just lost the business of 2500.00 dollars that I would have put in that store....

You go girl! I would be sure to inform corporate that they had lost a major sale because of this behavior.

That is why I never go to my KMart. There is only 1 employee there who is nice. The rest are completely RUDE. They act like it is a big deal to have to double check something. There is one girl who was chomping on her gum when I was there last time. Also, there prices really aren't that great.

I would definitely inform corporate. When the economy is down they pay more attention to stuff like this. Ignorance and lack of customer service has taken my money out of many stores.

Your KMart has washer and dryers?

Crap! Our KMart is rinky-dink. It's nasty (dirty nasty) and the people that work there are not necessarily the brightest bulbs in the tanning bed....we don't go there unless it's absolutely necessary.

Sounds like Kmart to me lol. The Kmarts here have very poor service and 'sale' items are often not priced right in their system- when something rings up wrong, no one knows what to do. Always a delay of like 15-20 minutes and you deal with 7 employees before you get one who knows how to fix it. I rarely rarely go there-

Our Kmart has appliances also.... Kenmore ... since they are now connected to Sears. They also carry Craftsman tools (not a full line, but an assortment).

The last time I had an issue with prices, I did write to corporate through their website, and I got a call from the store manager -- who even called TWICE because I wasn't home the first time -- and they fixed it by mailing me a gift card.

So I think it's definitely worth complaining. The company isn't going to know they have a problem if no one tells them.

Minimum wage at its finest! (At least I believe they make minimum wage). I also think that some of the younger generation is extremely self-centered and lazy. Certainly not all, but there's quite a few of them out there. They should know that the customer is always right and treat them accordingly. Any disagreements, the manager should handle.

You know how some people loathe Wal-Mart? That's how I feel about K-Mart. I haven't stepped in one in years. Definitely contact corporate.

None of ours has appliances except the Sears essential store that used to have a big K Mart sign on it. We went to the Sears Saturday sale yesterday and looked around. my nearest kmart hasnt had anyone nice working there since the guy that was going through the sex change process. Which didnt bother me at all cause he was a nicest person in the store. Never more than two check outs open so I go a little farther and go to another store to shop.

Teehee....I loathe both of them. I haven't stepped foot in KMart for, gosh, at least 10 years.....I am not a big fan of Sears either....but I once loved the other member of the trio, Lands End. I hope it will be able to stay nice.

At least here, KMart pays less than Wal-Mart. And the "rejects" that Wal-Mart won't hire (and Wal-Mart's pre-employment screening isn't to tough)? Well, you'll find those at KMart....

I don't mind Kmart. I don't shop there a lot, but I have never had a major problem.

Honestly, if we didn't shop at all the stores that gave us grief from time to time, our lists would be pretty darn short. If/when I have a problem, I call or write the store/manager. Most often, they are glad to get the feedback and compensate you accordingly.

I haven't shopped at a KMart in years.

The last time I was there, was when they were first filing bancruptcy. I was going to buy my girls each a GameBoy for a trip. I thought I'd got there and give them my business to do what I could for them. I got there and they had no selection. No colors other than white and very few games. I went and bought them at WalMart (I think) and have never been back. I figured why waste my time. Years ago, I actually used to shop there quite a bit.

I hate Kmart. I had problems several months ago when they had double coupons up to $1.00. Hardly any of my coupons rang up correctly. When I finally did find someone to help me, she was such a witch ( I pronounce my W's like Buh). I only had a dozen coupons or so, and she used EVERY excuse in the book as to why they did not work. She was extremely rude, and was acting like I was taking food out of her mouth. I sent an email to corporate. The manager of the store did call me back and offered me a $10 g.c. I decided I did not want it. That store is always so short of cashiers, very dirty, and not well-stocked. I decided that I was not going to give them another dime of my $$, or another minute of my time. Shouldn't be too much longer until they run themselves into the ground-good riddance!

I hate kmart too. it always seemed so disorganized and dirty. There seemed to be plenty of employees walking around, but doing nothing.. not cleaning or straightening up or even restocking.
Only thing I used to like about kmart was their cafeterias mom and I would go have a lil shopping and lunch there a few times a year, just to people watch.. that was fun!

You guys make me appreciate my local Kmart! Some of the employees aren't the brightest and kinda slow (okay, most), but the manager (that I see on the floor A LOT) has integrity and a great work ethic and really strives to make the store clean, neat, organized, etc.

This Kmart is 10 miles from my house. The closest Walmarts to me are about 15, 25 and 35 miles away. I'll opt for Kmart first.

KMart closed about 10 years ago in my area. I don't miss it one bit. The last transaction I had with them, the item rang up incorrectly. Instead of the cashier fixing it, she made me go to customer service to pick up the refunded difference. Of course I had to wait about 5 minutes before I could be waited on. Poor service is what is sinking this beast into the oblivion.

I do shop occasionally at our Kmart. Only when it is double $2.00 coupon week. Then it is usually a hassle. I always make sure I use the right coupon for the right product and I carefully watch to make sure they get doubled. This is the only time it pays for me to shop at their stores, because for the most part, their prices are much higher on products.

If she "rolled her eyes and acted like she was being so put out" that is not good customer service. But you sound many times like you are going to "snap" here. Do you have a lot of stress in your life? Just curious.

Yea, I haven't had any better experience at KMart other than getting things at a cheap price. I like Wal-Mart and Target. Good way to make a stand!

I have a Walmart and a Kmart about 5 minutes from my house but I drive 20 minutes to go to Target instead. Although rumor is they might be building a Target 3 minutes from my house.

We have several Kmarts in my area. Where I work is less than a block from one, I live right across the street from one and if I take the back way home from work I drive within 2 miles of one.
The one I work near and the one across the street from me are ok. A little bit grubby and don't have a huge selection but you can get good deals there.
Then there's the one on the back way home from work. I call it "The Kmart That Time Forgot" because it hasn't been updated in years and years but the other stores have. They probably still have stock from the 70's in the back room and I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see someone wheel out that old blue light and have a blue light special. And there seems to be some sort of unwritten rule that everyone who works there has to able to draw Social Security because I'd be shocked if anyone working there was less than 70. I have NO problem with retirement age people working and many of them do a wonderful job, just not the ones at this Kmart. It's mainly crabbly old ladies who move with all the speed of parapalegic sloths. I've NEVER seen a teenager/college age kid working in there, ever. The only good thing about it is the fact that it doesn't get a lot of business(shocking)so if the other stores are out of a sale item you can find it there.

I'm actually loving Kmart this week since they're doing super double coupons yet again and I've scored a bunch of free stuff.

That would be my list. I won't shop at:

WalMart
KMart
Lowe's
Home Depot
Circuit City
Best Buy
Petsmart
Petco
Hallmark
Sears
Toys R Us
Kaybee Toys
Macys

Probably others that I can't think of right now....
