Senator Kennedy - Inaugural Sadness

He apparently collapsed and was seizing during the luncheon today.

He was diagnosed with a brain tumor after a prior seizure in his home.

Very sad situation on this inaugural day.

That's sad. I hadn't heard about that yet, but I thought he looked *off* at the inaugeration. You hate to see something like this happen to anyone.

He has a brain tumor, so the seizure is not uncommon. Hopefully, it does not signal that his brain tumor is growing again.

I just heard that they suspect it was due to exhaustion. They plan to release him from the hospital tomorrow. He's alert and talking.

CNN called that big wig doc - I can never remember his name Kuptka? - and his opinion was that seizures caused from brain tumors are controlled by medication and the removal of the tumor. One senator had made a comment about people with medical problems should probably avoid situations like today, but the doc said that most likely had nothing to do with it.

I'm thinking it could just be his meds were "off" or the tumor is growing again.

In any case, he's doing well and just being kept for observation.

Yes, that was sad. I was getting my MRI's done today and in the waiting area the TV was on.
CNN announced the seizure right after they were kicked out of the luncheon (the cameras were told to leave). They came back on and said that Kennedy was "convulsing" and contined to convulse as he was taken out on a stretcher. They also said that John Kerry's wife went to his aid to help him, and that was evident as I watched John Kerry and Teresa leave the luncheon looking very stressed....
But the reporter also said that Berg was taken out as well, but later I heard that he left on his own accord. He is, after all, 91 (92?).

The reporter was so graphic though. Saying that his convulsions were severe, hard, and scary. It sounded as if she was reporting that he was on his death bed at that moment.

So sad. I wish nothing but good health for Ted, Berg and their families.
