Thumbs down Obama Tells Republicans Not to Listen to Rush Limbaugh

Who in the heck does he think he is? Obama starting already with the idea that only he is right? Why is he scared of Rush Limbaugh?? I had heard this on the news this morning and googled it and found lots of links, so I just picked this one. You can google it yourself and find others.

I think this is just one of many things he will be telling people what and what not to do. LOL -- so Obama is scared of Rush.

Does anybody take Rush Limbaugh seriously? The few times I have listened to him all he does is speak of hate. He comes on the channel that my dad listens to. My dad was born in Italy and lived there through WWll and says he sounds just like the people on the radio that were for Hitler. That is a very scary thought.

Hey mom, does this really surprise us???? He wants his mass of followers to do as they are told! As Bill O. calls them-Koolaid drinkers. I thought the libs didn't want anyone telling them what to do? Ironic isn't it?

I've never figured out why some people are drawn to a divorced, obese, drug addict for political guidance. Whatever.

Rush has a product to sell and he sells it particularly well to certain demographics. So do nuts on the far left. Small percentages of people are drawn to each one for different reasons. I just find it funny he is attractive to those who would consider themselves morally superior

Now, now, Rush is a high-end doper -- he has his housekeeper pick up his drugs from the local dealer, he doesn't do it himself.

And I really don't want to know why he had all those Viagra pills he smuggled back into the country. REALLY don't want to know.

If you read it in context, it should be pretty obvious what he was saying...and it wasn't mandating what people could and couldn't listen to.

It's kind of like when I tell my children that watching Spongebob isn't going to get their room picked up any faster.
I swear some people are just desperate to find something to gripe, whine or complain about...

They have to whine about something. Right now they have to make things up.

KOOL AID DRINKERS??? TOO FUNNY
However i didnt say anything close to that and got called a racist!!

The greatest thing about this county however is FREEDOM... so despite him telling people what to do they still have the right to do what they want and listen to who they want.
Will be interesting to see what rights he does try to take away though....

Oh for the love of all that is holy!
He didn't mandate what anyone could or couldn't listen to!

Would it kill some of you guys to read things IN CONTEXT, instead of reading what you want into a quote taken out of context??

I really think most of you guys are intelligent human beings....but every once in a while I wonder if you have common sense.

Interesting since alot of what is said (written) here by people is read and turned into whatever people want it to say or mean...And I do think that you have twisted a few things or two...

That may be a fact Lucy however people do have the right to listen to what they want to. That is part of freedom in this great country of ours..
I think the point of the matter is Obama talks of freedom and is telling people what to do. Kind of takes away from their Freedom dont ya think?

Try reading what he said instead of what you wish he'd said. He's not telling you you can't listen to Limbaugh.

Obama is referring to the fact that Rush said he wanted to see Obama fail.

Rush is a big, fat, drug addicted, philandering blowhard who sprews nothing but hate.

stay on task here...we're not talking about any other post or board.
Tell me that you've read what Pres.Obama said IN CONTEXT and it in any way can be construed as trying to tell people what they can and can't listen to; much less trying to take people's rights away

Koolaid drinkers is in reference to the mass suicide at Jonestown and has nothing to do with racism.

I thought KoolAid drinkers referred to the Jim Jones cult (you know they drank the poisoned Kool Aid blindly without questioning....)

this from UPI.com

"At one point, the president told the GOP lawmakers they should stop paying attention to right-wing radio personality Rush Limbaugh if they want bipartisanship, the New York Post reported."

They SHOULD STOP PAYING ATTENTION TO RADIO PERSONALITY RUSH LIMBAUGH IF THEY WANTED BIPARTISANSHIP... pretty much to me he is telling people what to pay attention to and who to pay attention to...

And in my city koolaid drinkers refers to "AFRICAN AMERICANS" (is that the politically correct term today?)

Key phrase IF THEY WANTED BIPARTISANSHIP. But of course you'll only read the words that pertain to your agenda and discard the rest.

Good God! That's the most assinine thing I've heard. the whole "koolaide drinkers" being slang for African Americans.

Oh, by the way, here's the quote that's from Foxnews.com:
WASHINGTON -- President Obama warned Republicans on Capitol Hill today that they need to quit listening to radio king Rush Limbaugh if they want to get along with Democrats and the new administration.

"You can't just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done," he told top GOP leaders, whom he had invited to the White House to discuss his nearly $1 trillion stimulus package.

it may be assinie but that is one of the names they are referred to here...
I didnt invent it or come up with it...
Right he warned them to quit listening if they want to get along with ...
that means he was in a sense telling them what to do....

No matter what anyone says Marilyn you are going to pick it apart to the Nth degree.... You are going to hound and decifer every single letter in whatever is said or written...No matter what you pick pick pick... I honestly feel that you have some serious serious control issues.. Bitter, angry whatever you want to call it, you just need to feel important and try to make others look bad. You hound and push your point to no end. And alot of times you see yourself as right or a winner simply because people get sick of you hounding and pushing the point...so they give up hence giving you the winning hand... Very sad way to go through life bullying people...
You read it how you want to and I will read it how I want to. There, fair enough for you??

I don't consider this a racist reference, but that said. Are you saying KTS or Bill O said something racist by referring to those who support Obama as drinkers of the Kool-Aid.

Where in the blue hell do you live? ? ? (I know you're not going to answer). I've lived in some of the most racist areas of the South and have never heard AAs being referred to as "KoolAide" drinkers. I think you're either mistaken or making things up to cover your own ignorance...
That said...he wasn't telling them what to do, plain and simple. You are reading more into this than is there.

Bitter, bitter, bitter. Just so filled with hate towards people you obviously know nothing about.

Obama won the election by a 7 point margin. The black population in the US is less than 15%. Do the math .........

I live in the state of Ohio... Near a very large metropolitan city. I have also worked in the inner city trauma centers and they are referred to as koolaid drinkers. Think or believe what you want. Why the hell or how the hell could I make that up? And as far as ignorance I will refer you back to pot calling kettle black....
As I said read it the way you want and I will read the way I want...

I've been to Ohio. I really think that you have misunderstood the use of the term. You may recall that Jones had his followers drink Kool aid laced with poison.

In other words, it refers to someone who repeats (and believes) party propoganda. It is much like what you are doing when you express outrage over something by taking it out of context, You are probably repeating something you heard on talk radio or Fox news.

And, where you work in a trauma center, why would you call your patients anything but people?

You have BEEN to ohio, not lived here... BIG difference...

and I never said I CALLED MY PATIENTS KOOL AID DRINKERS... I said they were referred to that way...People who work in the inner city and deal with the same stuff over and over do get jaded and can become racist. They have all sorts of names for people.. even white people... But never once did I say that I referred to them that way. I m just saying it is what they were called and referred to here...
ONCE again you took something and made it say what you wanted it to... The very thing that everyone on this thread is saying others have done regarding what Obama said... Interesting....

And if I did think I was wrong I would admit it. I do know about jonestown as I did a paper on it for college. However african americans are also called koolaid drinkers in the area I live in...

Urban dictionary:

Koolaid: A black mans drink
OR
kool aid

1) a drink stereotypically referred to what black people drink.
2) a persons area/space

And nightowl if you are calling me a racist you are the furthest thing from correct...

The comment isn't referring to race in a disparaging way because it refers to all who support Obama. 53% of the voters elected Pres. Obama. The majority of Pres. Obama supporters are white. Therefore, the reference to Kool-Aid is to the followers of Jim Jones.

What exactly is your point here, because you sure aren't proving you aren't racist or bitter if that is your goal.

My family lived in Columbus for a very long time -- never heard it called that.

A dear friend is from Cleveland -- she's never heard it called that.

My law school roomie is from Cincy -- she's never heard it called that.

DH is from Akron -- he's never heard it called that.

So what major metropolitan city in Ohio is left?

OK truble, You called these people and asked?? I really think you need to get a life...However it is one of those cities... Do these people or did they live or work in the inner city? Did they deal with alot of racist people? I did and still do on a daily basis. OH I am sure they did because between you and marilyn you all have been there, done that, lived there, worked there, or married someone who did. But honestly if you took time to call people and ask them about something you read on an internet board you really should call your shrink... I think your meds ran out...

apparently you didnt see the urban dictionary post...

I think this is just one of many things he will be telling people what and what not to do. LOL -- so Obama is scared of Rush.
Seems like sound advice to me! Rush Limbaugh is an entertainer who is paid to be controversial, the more outrageous the better. He preaches hate and fear with no common ground….definitely NOT what the U.S. needs at this time. That’s absolutely hysterical that you think President Obama would be afraid of him

I don't believe I wrote anything of the sort in this thread. I did continue with my assessment that you are still bitter.

However, you did say that what KTS wrote and what Bill O said was "racism at its finest." I thought that was interesting.

That is quite evident. What is your point?

Ok I LIVE in Ohio and have never heard of that reference of Kool aid dinkers to African Americans. SORRY! When I hear koolaid drinkers I think of the same thing as other posters have said. About blindly drinking the koolaid. Wow! Just WOW!!

I first mentioned Koolaid drinkers in reference to Bill O'Reilly who calls people who follow someone or an ideology blindly. I have never, ever heard it referred to African Americans. I also thought it stemmed from the Jim Jones mass suicide.

This thread is going exactly where I thought it would be going.......downhill !! LOL!

Of course, had President Bush told the Democrat lawmakers they should stop paying attention to left-wing news media (i.e., CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC, etc.) if they want bipartisanship, the liberals here would have been all over it, calling for his head!

So typical!

Everyone, with exception of the one who keeps bringing a negative light of race into posts, is well aware of what you were saying.

ETA -- this was in reference to KTS's post that is two above this one.

Of course, Pres. Obama didn't tell anyone to stop paying attention to anything. (details. details) Of course it was going to go downhill. You started it halfway up the hill and pointing south.

Okay, I'm confused.
If I drink the Koolaid, I will be afraid of nasty, fat, drug addicted, pigs.
If I don't drink the Koolaid, I will not be afraid, and embrace the drug crazed pig.

Decisions, decisions.................

I'm still confused.

Peace to all!

This was also stated:

According to participants in the meeting, Obama said this about rising above typical partisan differences: "We're all political animals, we've all got political bases," the president is reported to have said. "If we don't get this done we (the Democrats) could lose seats and I could lose re-election. But we can't let people like Rush Limbaugh stall this. That's how things don't get done in this town."

Scanning this thread, it seems typical here to include politics, racism, know it alls, and opinions. The only thing missing is abortion, how did y'all miss adding that tidbit? lol....

Ok, I guess it can be closed now, we've covered everything !

I had a friend who knew a girl that had an abortion. Does that count?
