Did you see the PETA ad that was rejected by NBC for the Super Bowl?

If not, here it is: The PETA Files: NBC's Sexually-Explicit Super Bowl Ad Rejection Makes Us Blush

What do you think?

I think that NBC made the right decision. That was WAY too suggestive even for the SuperBowl. How many adolescent boys are going to be watching? They don't need to see that. Heck, the husband/boyfriends don't need to see it either.

Sex sells. They use sex for every other product why not veggies? I think a lot more men would start becoming healthier. I was disappointed they didn't use a sexy man.

I think ads are getting more explicit every few years. At what point will it be out of hand?

I don't think this belongs in the Super Bowl repertoire of ads. Another station, another time, maybe.

I did see one comment of PETA making ads that no one ends up seeing because of controversy, and why don't they put up ads that will make it? One DOES wonder...

I heard they do it FOR the controversy. It's been on GMA, Headline News, The View, etc. and is getting talked about way more than if it were just during the Superbowl. They said it's the 3rd ad PETA has gotten banned. It's all about the publicity.

Yeah, that's what I thought. Heck, it's free publicity. They're probably getting a lot more out of it, and saving a ton of money.

The cheerleaders are more sexually explicit than that.

Seriously? You think so?

It's not appropriate at all.... but then again, I don't think the cheerleaders are all that appropriate half the time, so I may be in the minority.

We live in a nation that has problems with oversexed underage kids and unwed births. If Nancy Pelosi is going to try to sell us on the idea that providing birth control is a great way to stimulate the economy because we will have fewer unwanted kids to support, then I'd hope she'd also try to sell America on the idea that not overtly promoting sex to a broad, sweeping age demographic that includes as many teenagers and younger boys than it does married adult males.

She's fondling herself with asparagus and broccoli. She's welcome to do it, but it's private behavior.

PETA has no credibility with me. None.

It's unfortunate that NBC has rejected the "Life" ad. It's the one that shows an ultrasound of a baby and makes true statements and ends up with Obama on it. It's very life affirming and beautiful. And I'm a McCain supporter! I'm sad that NBC refused to air it.

That is why you found it beautiful. Republicans tend to be pro-life.

I think people should be able to choose for their situation on abortion but bumping and grinding on veggies is.... ick! Course i watched 101 things removed from the human body on tv least night and all was ok watching except when they got to the very last thing with a woman that something living in her head, that i had to turn from, wasnt any veggies but I'm certain there's been cases.

I have no idea why anyone would find it offensive.

Well, maybe if more people got their jollies with vegetables, there'd be fewer abortions to worry about. But I guess that wasn't quite the point of the ad.

Excellent point! I suggest we send a boatload of veggies to the octuplets woman.

I don't think this ad was any worse or more sexually explicit than others.

I find it sad that PETA does things like this. They are such a ridiculous example of going all the way in the other direction to the point of being a joke.

Nobody in the mainstream takes them seriously nor listens to what they say. They just keep alienating people.

Here is another of their silly ideas

PETA wants to rename fish "sea kittens" | L.A. Unleashed | Los Angeles Times

Pity the humble goldfish (and his cousins the salmon, trout and tuna). They're suffering, according to PETA, from a serious image problem. And PETA is aiming to fix that through a new campaign -- one that, they hope, will cause people to think of undersea creatures as they think of their beloved mammalian pets. From the campaign's website:

People don't seem to like fish. They're slithery and slimy, and they have eyes on either side of their pointy little heads -- which is weird, to say the least. Plus, the small ones nibble at your feet when you're swimming, and the big ones -- well, the big ones will bite your face off if Jaws is anything to go by.

Of course, if you look at it another way, what all this really means is that fish need to fire their PR guy -- stat.

The campaign's aim? To rename fish "sea kittens." In an interview with NPR's Anne Hillman, PETA campaign coordinator Ashley Byrne explains:

"Fish not only have the same ability to feel pain as a dog or a cat, but they also communicate with one another," she says. "They have complex social interactions; they form bonds; they express affection by gently rubbing against one another...

"Most parents would never dream of spending a weekend torturing kittens for fun with their families, but hooking a sea kitten through the mouth and dragging her through the water is the same as hooking a kitten through the mouth and dragging her behind your car," Byrne says.

The Sea Kitten campaign launched in North Carolina, but PETA plans to expand it across the nation, according to NPR. And they've already asked South Dakota's Spearfish High School to change its name to "Sea Kitten High School."

What do you think -- is this a step too far? Or do our finned friends need an image overhaul?

-- Lindsay Barnett

They want us to call Fish "sea kittens" so it will sound cute and people won't fish.

Hello--fish eat spined and prickly and poky creatures I really don't think a hook hurts them that much. And for PETA's information--fishermen and hunters are some of the most animal loving and environmentally conscious people on the planet.

They also believe people should not own pets.

As someone who doesn't eat meat as a personal choice I must say that all evidence is that animals were put here partially for us to eat. And it is not the eating of the meat that most non meat eaters object to it is the horrendous way that animals are bred, kept, killed, and processed that we object to.
PETA does not help things they only encourage people to go against their beliefs because of the way they approach things.

It's propaganda. So Obama succeeded despite hardship - sure. But where's the video on all the kids who end up abused and abandoned because they were unwanted? We need to maintain a woman's right to choose.

I know not many agree with me, but I didn't think it was that bad. I've seen a lot worse on network T.V.

I agree that PETA is really on the lunatic fringe. However, I have to say I'm in favor of making "pocket pets" like gerbils and ferrets less easily available. I think more often than not, they end up forgotten by the kids who wanted them so bad in the first place. I realize some people take very good care of them, but I wish there was a way to make sure people know what they're getting into before they buy them. Maybe if they were only available from breeders, instead of places like PETCO and PETSMART they'd have a better chance of getting a good home.

Remember not too long ago when PETA was pushing Ben & Jerry's to use human breast milk in their ice cream? Ha! That was a little extreme, too!

I don't even think "choice" or "anti-choice" was in the ad. It's a beautiful ad about our Presidents story.

PETA doesn't give a damn about animals, PETA only cares about attention.

If PETA really did care about animals they'd have shelters for abused household pets, retirement farms for abused livestock/zoo animals, and so on.

They do nothing to really help animals, they only help they're own egos.
