Question Running A Thrift Store?

Does anyone here run or help run a thrift store
I am looking for tips, suggestions on set up, day to day, grand opening, best advertising?
It is a store that I am helping with moving from one town to another (Close to A Salvation Army) which will hopefully help us since our prices are much less
I want to keep having fun with it and I love talking to the customers and helping make money for organizations.
Thanks for any help Suzanne

I guess I'd need more details... The consignment shop in this area has 4 stores in three cities. They started small in 1985 and have grown by leaps and bounds. They run a great store.

My favorite thrift store is a small local one. For starters, their prices are very reasonable (unlike The Goodwill, which pricing is a joke and only affordable on half price days). On given days, they might offer a B1G1 on particular clothing , if they happen to have more than usual and want to move it out. A bigger ticket item, like a microwave, you can make an offer on and they will probably accept it.
One other thing, they play peaceful Christian music in the background, and I think customers really like that.
Hope these points are helpful.

Have nice looking displays to get people in and thinking. Put outfits together on mannequins. Put furniture together in displays with pillows, etc.

I would put out coupons giving something either a discount or even a free prize if you spend so much.
Put fliers and coupons in places where thrifty people go like the sewing store.
