Does anyone unplug stuff in their house to save on electric bill?

I've started to unplug stuff around my house (tv, computer, microwave, etc) and am just curious if anyone else does this and has noticed a change on their bill? I just started doing it so I don't know about the change.

I've been doing this - or trying to- for a few months and I've seen a drop in my bill. It's not a huge savings but it better than nothing. I also turned off the dehumidifier we had running in the basement 24/7. We only really need it in the summer and fall. That dropped about $25/month from my bill.

When I turn off the computer, I flip the switch off on the power strip all the computer stuff is plugged into so there is no power drain overnight. I want to put all the TV/stereo equip. on an easily accessible power strip so I can do the same with it.

I have all our chargers, the coffee maker and the shredder on another power strip that I turn off when it's not needed.

A little OT, but I have stopped turning on the lights in the basement if it's sunny outside when I go down to get something out of the freezer or do the laundry.

So, I'm making an effort but I'm always looking for ways to do more.

I tried doing this, but I would forget, get angry that something wasn't working and storm out to the garage to check the fuse box and then I would remember I unpluged everything. I sseriously would stand there forever trying to make my appliances/electronics work. It wasn't worth the frustration for me. I do turn down my heat at night and when we leave the house.

I tried it in the past and my bill didn't change so I stopped. I am still anal about turning off lights but I'm not a freak anymore about unplugging. We have been playing around with our heat. Last year we had the temperature raise and lower during different parts of the day. It would heat the house to 68 in the early morning and then shut off at 8:00 and wouldn't kick back on unless the temp fell to below 62. Then at 5:00 it would go back to 68 until 10 pm. This year, we kept it at 68 all day and had it fall to 62 10:00 pm through 5:00 am. We *thought* it would be cheaper to raise and lower (like last year) but nope....it's about the same. They daily average temp was nearly the same as well so it hasn't been because of weather differences.

I unplug the coffee maker, and that's about all. Oh, and I don't leave the cell phone chargers plugged in. I unplug them, and put them away, too. I unplug the coffee pot more as a clean-up measure than a huge electricity saver. I don't use the clock on the coffee maker, so why not unplug it when I'm done.

That's about what I do too, nothing crazy. I tried for a while, but it didn't seem to make that much of a difference in our bill?
