So you think someone should actually have to take personal responsibility for their choices?????? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I'll bet some of those who take "advantage" of this would be the same ones who refinanced multiple times and took out all of their equity to buy a big fancy car, take a nice trip, pay off credit cards, etc. and are now complaining about their adjustable rate mortgage that they can't pay. ![]() That commercial irritates me to no end. |

I liked it better before lawyers were allowed to advertise, regardless of what service they are advertising. As for getting them a break on their taxes. I suspect that 85% is gross exaggeration. But aside from that claim, there are many reasons, some very legitimate, that might make someone have tax problems, not just the ever popular refinancing to buy a big car people. I have more of a problem with the allowable deductions. Why should there be deductions for more than a couple of dependents? If you choose to have children, why should my taxes be higher to offset your deductions? Why should you get a deductions for charitable donations? If you want to do good things, then do them without lowering your taxes. If you own a company and want to take a bunch of VIP's on a golf outing, advertise during the Super Bowl, take customers to the opera, buy a corporate jet, why should I have to pay more in taxes to offset your business deductions? |

| I could be wrong but I think these lawyers don't actually get the taxes owed lowered. I think they negotiate to lower or negate interest and penalties. But of course the people would end up hoping to owe lesser of an attorneys fee than they owed the gov't. Sounds like a vicious circle. Knock on wood, taxes I have never had a problem with.
