What are you reading???

I'm half way through Anita Shreve's latest: Testimony. I like it but I need to see how it ends. She wrote The Pilot's Wife and other books.

Next in line for me: Janet Evanovich's Plum Spooky.

Also at my library I was able to put Evanovich's next book " Finger Lickin' Fifteen" on hold even though it isn't due out until June. I'm number 2 on the hold list -- and I know they will get lots of copies --cause I work there!! :-) You might want to see if you can get on the list now at your library too.

It's sunny and somewhat warm in Wisconsin today. The snow is melting!!!

Infinite Jest - by David Foster Wallace

I read it years ago while on bed rest. After Wallace died I wanted to give it another go, but it's taking me much longer this time.

I can't remember the name -- The Burnt House, maybe -- but it's a Faye Kellerman book. I just finished reading another one by her husband!

Cheating at Solitaire by Jane Haddam (Gregor Demarkian mystery), lots of fun and digs at contemporary celebreties
and
The Year of Living Biblically... One Man's Quest to Follow the Bible as Literally as Possible by
A.J. Jacobs
This is the same guy who wrote The Know-It-All, this book is outrageously funny and thought provoking at the same time

And as always, I read our small town local newspaper each week, I love small town newspapers.

I just finished _The Broken Window_ by Jeffery Deaver (a Lincoln Rhyme book - I love those :-) and _Against Medical Advise_ by James Patterson and Hal Friedman. It's a non-fiction book about Hal Friedman's son who was diagnosed with Tourette's Syndrome at age 5 - it was very, very good. I'm just getting ready to crack open _Tailspin_ by Catherine Coulter.

Yes, it is. I love that series. I started reading her husband's books first, but I actually like hers much better. I'll have to reserve The Mercedes Coffin -- I hadn't heard of that one.

I read "Against Medical Advice" too, and I really like it too, Reannag. It was an interesting read about Tourettes syndrome. The father and James Patterson were making the rounds a few weeks ago to promote the book.

LOL! I, too, work in a library...Plum Spooky is in transit for me right now (should be there tomorrow!) and I am #3 on the list for Finger Lickin' Fifteen!

What a great thread! I cashed in my Saynation Points last month for Barnes and noble gift cards. Browsing the bargain section and using coupon codes I got 7 hardcovers- shipped free- with $30 in gift cards. Yey!

I am working on my first book : Piece of Work- Laura Zigman

So far I am not crazy about her writing style- But the story is great.

I am going to the library either today or tomorrow and get a bag full of books. I have "Why We Suck" by Denis Leary on hold it sounds good and I have a whole ongoing list of books that I look for. I also look at the librarian's picks and the new releases. I always find something wonderful I kind of wish I could just sit there and read for a whole week but I have too much energy to do that.

I finished up a ton of books over the weekend. I read, " Murder in the family ". A true crime book by Kent Whitaker. He was a guest on Oprah. His college son shot his mom, brother, and the dad ( Kent )..The dad lived..the son sent to TX death row. It is about forgiveness.

Also read a book featuring the life and struggles of Wyonna Judd. I believe the title is " Coming home to myself". I am too lazy to run upstairs to look. It was an interesting read..especially if you are a fan of hers ( I am not, but I got the book at a huge discount )

I am reading the 3rd twilight book but I am getting burnt out quick. I think I will have to take a break after this one, before I finish the last one!

I'm reading all the post I have missed for the last few weeks at the café, Got to say some of the post are better than most books.
Sorry just had to say that. LOL.

I have read a little bit of the twilight. My 12 yo DD is a book worm , she's forever reading something. Guess I want to see what she's reading so I started picking her books up to see what it's about.. So far it's NOTHING like the movie we went to see, Book is so much better.

I'm on chapter two of Kathy's latest goodbye post. Got off to a slow start, but it really came through in the end.

I just finished Patricia Briggs' newest Mercy Thompson book " Bone Crossed". I really liked it. I am thinking about rereading some of the Twilight books esp the on-line bits. I need more happy escapes.

Has anyone read Stefenie Meyers book "The Host" ? I keep debating buying it but it just doesn't sound all that great.

Besides the Bible I am not a reader but I picked up one of my daughters books and I am now wanting to do nothing but finish it. ~Cornelia And The Audacious Escapades Of The Somerset Sisters is the title. I also like to read the books that she reads so that it is a conversation piece. (It also helps me to read a book that she is going to be tested on so that I can help her when it comes time to study)

I finished the Twilight Series in January. I just finished "The Choice" by Nicholas Sparks last night. It was okay but I really love his first 2 or 3 books. I am not sure what I'll read now. I can only read before bed so it usually takes me a while to finish a book.

I teach and we are currently reading The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by CS Lewis in one of my 6th grade classes.

"The Choice" wasn't too bad, but I agree it wasn't as good as his first books......have you read "The Lucky One" also by Nicholas Sparks? I thought it was better then "The Choice"

Love the Kellermans, but stopped reading em awhile back cuz they were so intense and scary to me. This was at a time when I decided to read as much fun stuff as possible. Have taken to listening to books on tape whilst falling asleep, driving, and doing laundry. Just got The Mercedes Coffin to listen to tomorrow when I catch up on laundry, thanks for that suggestion. Hope it doesn't creep me out too much ;-)
