I Just Gave My 21 Pound Cat a Bath

Pass the towels please. Actually she was pretty good about it. Yeah, I know, 21 pound cat..........WHY?? Well she's a food shark. I have had her to the Vet and there is no underlying disease, she just loves food. Several months ago I got her a big dog crate and she's in there when the other cats are eating moist food. She gets her own low cal food. The only thing crating her has done is keep her at 21 pounds. At least she hasn't gained any more weight.

But because we have so many cats, there are a lot of times she can cheat. Most of the older males we have are on the heavy side while the females are all at ideal weight or lighter. I have to leave dry food out for them. You know, The Needs of the Many Must Outweigh the Needs of the Few.

Any way, she is now the cleanest cat in the house and I'm the wettest human.

I have a 17lber myself. He was found in a dumpster at around 2 weeks. He was so tiny then.....now, OMG....LOOK OUT. He can jump, too....he is solid black, and looks like a panther.

The vet told me not to leave food out, but, he can get the lid off of the container we keep the food in. he's a biggen, for sure.

Okay, I cant' say my cat weighs that much. But, she is about 13 lbs. Still big for a cat. She can from the shelter and was that big when we brought her home. This was 5 years ago.

Here she is. Her name is Cricket because she doesn't meow, she chirps.

I just love the look on her face in the second picture, she is not impressed by the camera. I love cats too, I now only have five, I had 8 until the older ones died, one was over 15 and I think the one that just died in December was about 15 too. Mine were ALL rescues and the last one is still gaining weight, I just assume it was because she almost starved before I found her. She would fit in the palm of my hand and you could see my hand all the way around her and the vet said she was at least a year old. You can bet there are no LIVING varmints in my yard! I am glad to see there are other cat lovers here, I absolutely LOVE my furriy babaies!

How can I say this tactfully? Large cats have trouble cleaning their back side.

She is sooooooo pretty, I have 2 black cats myself and I have to say the way I love my shetland sheepdogs I also love my black cats...My male minnie is a big talker, does anyone else's cat talk alot, I mean by meowing alot, if I say to him Minnie wanna cat, minnie you want mommy to make you a plate are you hungry, his meows get louder and louder and longer. However his daugher and wife lol they are so quiet so figure. While cats are generally very clean animals and keep themselves clean, we do give our cats baths now and then just to make sure..Peace. I have two other black cats besides Cricket. One is Little Spooky

and the other is Mom Cat.

Both of them were throw aways by the idiots who lived behind us when I was still up in Massachusetts. Little Spooky was always friendly. She's the cat who had a litter of kittens up in my attic. Mom Cat, on the other hand, was nearly feral by the time we were able to catch her. She was pregnant, hungry and scared to death of people. She had her kittens in our spare bedroom.

Now Mom Cat is a loving and friendly cat who loves to talk. I think she has some Siamese in her. The idiots who owned her had a male Siamese cat for a while.

It's funny. I've had cats nearly my whole life but these are the first black cats I've ever owned.
