| The World As We Know It May Soon Change Dramatically Associated Press | The Register-Guard washingtonpost.com They are saying that the "space junk" from the collision of the satellites is going to be around for 10 thousand years and may endanger the space shuttle, the space station, and possibly all of our satellite transmissions. If this happens, our GPSes, cell phones, tvs, and internet will go blank. You will not be able to do anything that requires information being beamed from a satellite. No debit or credit transactions or even phone calls until the old way is restored. I hope this doesn't happen I shudder. But we all know the truth: The irony is that humans will have to live with the knowledge of technology but the inability to use it. We all also know that someday "we" (the human race) will cause our own demise. I am just selfish and was hoping none of this would occur in my lifetime.

From a religious/faith perspective, I can't go along with this being something we 'know.' When we all go down, it will, IMHO, be at the time of His choosing and not the result of humankind's technological advancements going haywire. That's what lets me sleep at night. Somebody we have no control over is at the wheel, so I just won't worry my pretty little head about things I can't control. |
