Spinoff to My cat is so busy--Cat toys

Reading the My cat is so busy thread made me think about cat toys, what all does ur cats like to play with? maybe it will give us all some new ideas for cat toys.

My Snowy likes to play with anything that resembles a wad of aluminun foil or empty plastic easter eggs. His current thing is the ribbon on the balloon DS got for valentines day, he keeps leaping up to get it and taking off running with it till it floats out of his mouth then its on again lol

Our kitten Jose (about 8 months) plays with just about anything. My ds just got a laser pointer and he goes freaking ballistic trying to catch the read dot.

Our older cat Cuervo (almost 2 years) Isn't really interested in much except these plastic dart things that came with my ds's toy gun from the dollar store. He loves them, whenever he loses one under something he goes nuts trying to get it out.

Two of my cats love a ostrich feather on a plastic stick. I got it years ago but it's still very popular. One of my cats likes peppermint candies.. still in the wrapper.. I throw it and he fetches it and brings it to me like a dog. Last but not least, my Kitten, Ting Ting loves her green plastic Easter egg, just like Snowy

We have a kitty toy basket on the floor in the family room. It has little fur covered toy mice, cat nip balls, krinkle balls, balls with bells in them, sticks with various things dangling from them, and other cat toys collected through the years. By far the favorites are the fur covered mice. Both our cats will dig though the basket with their paws until they locate a mouse. About once a month, when the basket is void of mice, we will take out the yard stick and go mouse hunting. Both cats get super excited when the see the yard stick come out and start "chirping". They will follow you around to each piece of furniture while you dig the mice out and fill up the toy basket. Our male cat also goes nuts over one toy that has a fur-feather like thing dangling from a stick. I don't know what it is exactly but I've never been able to find another one like it. It is torn to shreads. He will pull it away from you and carry it around in his mouth with the stick dangling between his front legs. He will yowl with it in his mouth like he's caught some big prey. That cracks us up everytime! Our male cat is 5yrs old and our female cat is 3yrs old.

Cat Dancer and Cat Charmer. She also loves my home-made catnip fish toy. I got the "pattern" off the internet and it's so cute!

My cats also have a basket with toys light up balls, fuzzy animals, birds on a stick. Their all time favorite toy is so simple and cheap to make zip ties. I make them into circles different sizes and cut the pointy ends off and they flip those things around for hours. My baby cat carries hers around all the time and hides it in my bed under the pillows so the others don't take it. The other toy they like is pipe cleaners made into spiders.

I have spents thousands of dollars over the years on toys and cat condos and have found they love the non toy toys. Zip ties, Milk container rings, wadded up paper. I don't know why I still spend money on toys hoping they will play with it when I can just make them something.

I have one who fetches paper balls and one who loves to be in bags or boxes. Both are about a year old and still chase each other all around. The laser light and Nerf darts are also a hit.

Mine are a year old and their best toys are toliet paper tubes or the older cat. They also love stuffed animals, unfortunately none belong to them. They can be seen dragging various stuffed animals twice their size down the hall to take to their hut. The youngest one is a pack rat. (Can a cat be a pack "rat"?) He loves plastic straws, milk caps, twisty ties, and pens and any treasures he finds on the kids floors. When he is done playing with them they go under the rug in the dining room. He accumulates quite a stash in a week period. On cleaning day everything goes in the toy box and he starts all over.

My cats like the rings off milk jugs, pipe cleaners, the little mice covered with fur and a line of toys made by a company called "Fat Cat" or maybe "EEKS!". The toys are made out of fabric and filled with stuffing/catnip and come in a bunch of sizes/types. Mine like the mouse shaped ones that aren't real big while my mom's cats prefer the smaller ones that have funny names like "Teeny Sardini" and "Cocktail Weenie Dog".

The latest toys are the display tents I brought home from work. My moms one cat went CRAZY for them, curling up in it for hours to snooze. My cats have been in theirs a few times but they weren't nearly as enthusiastic. Oh well, the price was right. I just had to drag them home instead of putting them in the compactor.

The first year of Smokey's life he loved water bottle tops. He would play fetch with me with them. He no longer does that too bad it was so fun and cute. I would hear him in the night slapping those things around the floor and when I moved the furniture to vacuum I would find piles of them.

He has a basket of toys that we play with him sometimes. He loses interest fast. He really loves the laser light though.

Mine don't really play with toys. Once in a while one fo them will play with the milk ring. Right nwo the favorite toy is the box that sits over the heater vent. My SO cut out entrance holes on each side so they can go in and out and the heat escapes. One cat is having fun playign with Momma as she walks by him, he keeps smacking me on the head. And if I come close enough I got lots of hair pulling and head rubbing.

My two are about five years old and love chasing each other, wrestling around and just hanging out together.
As for toys, they like the rings off milk cartons, little fur balls (I think they're rabbit fur) from Petco and one likes the foam or plastic rings that come in a big spindle of CDs or DVDs.

Smokey now likes to sit on the counter next to the kitchen faucet. He sits there and waits for the drip. Sometimes he gets right in the sink and waits for it to hit him on the head. It's pretty funny.

I know how you feel, our cat brings us live mice. I've read that it means she's trying to teach us to hunt.
