I need help with metal/plastic glue question!

I have always used a hot glue gun (and duct tape, another story!) for everything...

I am doing a project that involves gluing a very thin sheet of plastic to metal (painted iron). The metal glue/epoxy that we have tried makes the plastic melt and I know a hot glue gun would melt it too.

Do any of you know what might work? Would a cold glue gun be an option? Do they really work?

I have found that Liquid Nails works on a lot of things.
I built a birthday cake that an adult could jump out of (another whole story) using hula hoops, PVC pipe and metal gussets/braces and put it all together with Liquid Nails. The cake has been "jumped" from several times and it's still holding up.

I have never had much luck with trying to glue metal. . .but I was going to suggest the liquid nails too. It seems to work very well. My mom swears by the E-6000, but I have never tried it. I'm not to sure, but Gorilla Glue might be another option.

I use E-6000 for a lot of things.....it holds very well, but it takes a while to dry, and only use it in a very well ventilated area.
