This is the end of week one with my dh's layoff. I have not spent a dime this week..luckily my cupboard was fairly well stocked. I've been making cheaper meals and in fact, my ds has come on board and eaten them without fussing ! He's a teen so you know how that goes. Last night I made jello for dessert with whip cream and it was heavenly.

I know the bills will start to roll in soon, I ask for strength. My dh has submitted applications to the tune of 3 a day for the past week. Tuesday he will attend a job fair in Cape Canaveral.

Please keep us in your thoughts. It's so reassuring ! My friends took me out for coffee the other day, what a nice pick me up !

Has he considered moving back to consolidate living costs? How safe is your employment?

There is NO work in this area of the country..cept mining and teachers...walmart..

I would work at Walmart. And, if you or your husband have college credits, you can work at the school.

I hope things happen soon for you both.

Did your dh sign up for unemployment?

I know here in PA you have to wait a week after you sign up before you start getting a weekly check and if its the same where you are then he should start getting a weekly check. I know unemployment isn't much but its better than nothing. Check out the rules where you are, I know here you can earn up to a certain amount before your benefit is decreased so maybe your hubby could get a wal-mart type job to supplement the unemployment until something full time comes along.

Best of luck. My husband was out of work for 6 months, got hired for a new position and worked it for just over 3 months and then they shut down. That was back in June and he's still looking. He applies to multiple jobs daily. There's just not a lot out there right now.

I feel so bad for you. Every day, when I want to complain that I don't want to go to work, I remind myself that I am so blessed to even have a job!! Man, what in the world are we all going to do if things don't turn around soon???
