18th Birthday ideas Gift party etc

I am normally pretty good at coming up with ideas but after spendiing all week during school vacation with my family having the FLU I am in a Brain Freeze. Birthday is in March about 35 people. Any ideas for some different great ideas for a Gift (Girl) or party. I am really thinking of having it at a pizza/italian restuarant but not sure.

Thanks
Cheryl

Is it family mostly? Or is it her friends who will be coming? I think who is attending probably would make a difference. I think the idea of the pizza party at a restaurant, though, would work for both.

Have you asked the birthday girl how she'd like to celebrate her 18th? That may help you decide what type of party to give. Usually you can't go wrong with pizza.

As for the gift, is she still in school or is she working? Does she like to get her nails done? A manicure and pedicure are so expensive now, that might be something to give her. Or if you want to do something that she'll look back on, does she have a charm bracelet? I gave one of those to my son's wife a few years ago and she loves it. Each charm represents something that's happened in her life. My son is always adding to it for her. I still have mine from when I was a teen. It's something I'll always cherish.

A special piece of jewelry that she can remember always is a nice touch. And it doesn't have to be too expensive if you shop smart. I was able to pick up a nice pearl ring with small (tiny) diamond chips around it for my dd's 16th and then a nice string of pearls with earrings for her 18th birthday.....with sales and coupons they each were less than $100 from Macy's. Many of the big department stores have days where gold is 50% off or many stores are going out of business and slashing prices. You might find something very nice.

Now that I am old, lol, I look back on special pieces of jewelry that my father or parents got me and they have so much more meaning as the years go on. Plus now that they are deceased I wear the special pieces they were given on birthdays and occasions and the jewelry still has so many memories.

This will be a family party. She really doesn't care what I do but she did tell me she wants a Gym Membership for a gift. The Manicure is a great idea as well! She is getting jewelry from my Mom and Sister. The restaurant has a regular menu and pizza's so I think it will cater to everyone. Thanks for the ideas.
