I did it!

I know this won't be a big deal to most of you since it seems like the majority of the gals on here are very active, but...I ran my first mile yesterday!!! I walked three minutes of the first mile, but then I ran my second mile straight! The weather was really nice here yesterday so I guess that probably helped. Also, I've been working up to this for weeks. Which leads me to my question...what is on your i-pod when you run or exercise? I've been trying different things, but it I really like running to Prince...with a little Kid Rock added in here and there.

YAY! for you. Congrats, too!

Whatever rocks your boat and keeps you running - that's what you listen to.

and I bet it was a rush just knowing that you did it!

Congratulations! You should be proud of yourself. I am not much of a runner either, but I do walk. This would be an accomplishment for me too.

That's great, especially for those of us who aren't young chickies anymore. I like to listen to a lot of different types of music, but usually for exercise, I like classic rock.

I missed congratulating you on your milestone (pun intended!), mdrpooh! Actually, I think walking 3 mins of the first mile doesn't exactly disqualify it or anything.....you're being too hard on yourself...

How's it going? Up to 1.5mi now?? Hmmm....perhaps I need to get this old butt over to the gym as I skipped the last two days....oh, by the way, classic rock is my music choice...running or no.

Wow! Congrats. I was never a runner but I still try and walk at least a mile several times a week.

Since we moved to Florida, I don't bother listening to music. The street I walk on is fairly busy so I like being able to hear cars coming. That and you never know what type of bird you might hear and then see.

That is AWESOME! Congratulations!!!

I love a lot of different types of music - but you know what really makes me run? Listening to "Gonna Fly Now" from Rocky as well as "Chariots of Fire" - I could listen to them over and over.

You must be so proud. You're very inspiring, that's for sure!

Your being WAY TOO hard on yourself! Look what you've built yourself up to. Next thing we know, you'll be back saying you ran 5 miles! CONGRATS!!

As far as music, I know this strange (for some anyhow!), but I love reggae! Anything that slightly sounds like it, I have it on mine. So, it's a mix of reggae, rap, a couple country songs and even some classic rock. It keeps me motivated in exercising, so it's what I stick to!

Yay!! And the crowd went wild!!

I for one am impressed.
Of course I don't run when someone yells FIRE.
I do use the eliptical and also walk and hike outdoors but running is not part of the equation.
As far as music it's mostly classic rock because I'm old and I know all the words.
