Hi everyone tomorrow me and my dh are giving my Daddy a surprise 76th birthday. We are having 40 people and I am so nervous. I want him to be so surprised. He never had a surprise birthday party given by his children. We wanted to do it for his 70th but that is when my brother Sonny passed away 6 years ago so it was sadly not a good time. I blew up several pictures of when he was younger the youngest I have is when he was 14 and then I have some pictures when he was in the Air Force he was 20 years old. He was so handsome and still is even with his grey white hair, those green/blue eyes are still there. In addition to that I have 3 friends who he has seen in a long time coming and the rest in some family and friends. I also purchased a big cake with green frosting his favorite color and with some yellow roses for my brother Sonny. In addition I have one niece and one nephew who sing so beautiful and have great talent. They are going to sing some of his favorite songs, by Josh Grobin, Micheal Bluebe sp.. and Celine Deion. I am also getting him green and burgardy balloons his favorite colors and 2 dozen long stem yellow roses for Sonny. But guys the part that truly has me so nervous is that I am going to be reading a special letter dedicated just to my Daddy. To basically tell him How Special he is to me and how much I love him and truly what a special daddy he has been to me and my brothers when we were infants to now adults. Ladies kindly offer me some convidence I am not good at speaking. But I know I want and need to do this to truly let everyone know there and especially my Daddy to the wonderful man he is. While we were growing up we did not have many material things, however those items come and go . It was his love that made me a rich daughter on so many levels and because of my Daddy I have been able to deal with my panic attacks, because he himself as to deal with them himself. Okay guys I will update after the party. If anyone would like to wish my Dad a Happy Birthday please do so. I will make him read this thread, it would be nice for him to see it. I would sincerely appreciate it very much. His name is Peter Henry.. Peace and to all out there always remember anyone can be a father however it takes a special person to be a Daddy...Hug your parents a bit more and treasure them always and wish like I do they could stay with us 4ever. Blessings. Catherine |

P.S. Wanted to wish you luck on your letter - you will do great....after all, you have been talking to your daddy for many many years, so it will come natural once you start

What a very nice tribute to your dad. He will be deeply touched. As far as reading your letter, remember you are reading it for him. Look at him and read slowly, carefully emphasizing what you want him to hear. If there is a funny part, laugh. That will make you feel more at ease. (I also would be nervous to do this, but you're right, you need to do this). Good luck. Let us know how it turns out. Chris

Sorry to be late Peter, but I hope your day was wonderful and the "surprise" was as much fun as it sounds. I was busy yesterday because you and my husband share a birthday. He turned 72, so you have a few years on him, but not much. He had a good day as well, but much quieter than yours. We both wish you the happiest birthday and hope the coming year is a great one for you and your family.
