Can a person draw unemployment for working 2 days ?

The oddest thing happen a few weeks back. My husbands boss man received a letter stating one of his employees had paced a claim for unemployment. This is not only wrong but impossible as there has only been 7 employees working for the company since its doors open in 1948 and out of those 7- 3 of them are still working there my husband being the 2nd longest at 30 years.
Any hoot,, the man claims he worked for them last year for 2 DAYS ! as a security guard . There has never been a security guard ever.Any hoot, a man from unemployment called yesterday to talk to the boss man and the man claiming to hadworked for him last year was on the line as well.
( 3 way call ) The man kept repeating over and over he had worked for them, when the boss man ask him where he couldn't tell him . WTH ? You drove to work for 2 days but you dont have a clue where its located ??BTW the unemployment claims office where the claim was placed is located over 75 miles way from the business in a different county and different city. The man kept saying he worked for the company in our home city, which this is impossible as that store closed doors in 1995.So there's no way he worked there last year . So when boos man told the claims officer that store has been closed since his fathers death in 1995 ( BTW the building has been sold and is now a tire store ). In the end the claims officer told boss man there had to be a mistake and he would close the claim.. Now I ask you can someone work for a company for 2 days and get unemployment ? I always thought you had to have points paid in ( some people call it pennies ) and it usually amounted to about 6 months of working. We all know A. this was a scam or B. a total mistake on the mans part. But I still wonder about working only 2 days and placing a claim? can you do this ?.

This seems like something that wouldn't be allowed. I always thought you had to be employed long enough to pay into unemployment. Maybe I'm wrong?

Probably a scam...people have realized they are giving out so much money that there are bound to be scammers...just like after Katrina and any other disasters when money is free flowing without much time to go over each case one by one...JMHO.

An unemployment claim is based on your working income for the last 12-18 months. That sets my benefit level. So for example if my benefit level is $200 I can claim benefits for all weeks that I earn less than $200. If I earn over $200 one week I have to call and reopen my case for the next week I would qualify. If I am just now filing there is one waiting week so for the first week of working below the $200 I would get zero.
If I only worked for the place for two days I could still claim if I qualify based on my working income from that 12-18 mos. ago. But if I am fired or quit there is a hearing to determine if it was for just cause or some other reason. That sounds like what they were doing. Or possibly an appeal. If I am turned down I can file an appeal and a judicial arbitrator will hear both sides of the case to determine eligibility.

He is more than likely just providing his employment history and got confused on the name of the employer that he only worked for for 2 days. No, 2 days is not enough of a work a history to file a claim, but, he more than likely worked somewhere else in order to have filed a claim in the first place.

Thanks everyone.
I didn't think he could file for only 2 days, But even if he did work elsewhere for say 2 years does that mean he can place a claim against the employer that only hired him for 2 days ?. shouldn't the responsible party to pay unemployment be the last job he held ?... Or does a company have to pay benefits on his behalf ? or does this all fall on the State to pay the money ?. Sorry I don't know anything about how this works.

I wonder if he just picked a company, not realizing how small it was and got caught. These days there's so many scams going it's insane.

Lisa you are not the only one that has thought of that.
The names of the companies owned by the family are names of the cities they are located in.The one that closed down in 1995 was a auto parts store. The one thats still open here is a auto and marine parts store. The man however used the INC name instead of the store name. Thats why the boss man asked him to name which store he worked at and he said he didn't recall. But I find it really strange even if this was a mistake on the company as to why he couldn't tell him the store's name. . If I worked for a place I would know the name of it. Since this is the only company that uses X.X.X INC in our state is wasn't hard to track down the boss man to speak to him yesterday. This is just so weird. But I guess it's all taken care of now since the man said they were closing the claim , but I too think he just picked a name out in hopes they wouldn't check up on this.
