I am going to be a grandma

I keep telling my son he needs to start buying diapers now. He isnt listening, so I will start hunting down deals on diapers. I forget, so, hoping someone will reply here. How many diapers on average do newborns go thru? I want to buy nb and size 2 diapers, but dont remember how many they go thru in a day. How often do you buy diapers?

thanks

Congrats!!! I wouldn't suggest buying NB diapers though, and if you do, only buy one pack or so. Some babies, like mine, are too big for them when they are born and you don't want to waste money! I would say get a few packs of size 1. I use to buy those big boxes of huggies and they seemed to last awhile. The amount of diapers a baby goes through depends on the baby. My 4 month old nephew probably went through 6-7 diapers a day, but then it depends on how much the baby goes. KWIM?

Maybe 1 (or 2 at most) of newborn diapers. My kids stayed in 3-4s the longest. Second longest size was 2s.

My son was 8lbs 6 oz at birth and he did use the nb diapers for a while. We went through about 5 packages before switching to 1. He was in 1 for quite a while as well.

Congratulations on your grandbaby!! I'm due in August and have already gotten some diapers. I think I only have 2 pcks of nb, and then I have 4 or so of the size 1. I got some huggies coupons off of the coupon board, and have been trying to wait for sales to pick up more diapers. I wish I could tell you how many babies need, but the last time I had a newborn was 9 years ago and I'm in the same boat you are.

I don't typically buy any newborn sized diapers. Our hospital sends you home with a full pack. After we use those, we go straight to size 1. ALL of our babies fit in to them fine. LOL

I'm currently preggo w/#4 and due 10/19. I'll be stocking up on diapers when I'm farther along. I'll only buy a few packs of size 1 and 2 and then more of the size 3's.

My daughter uses five or six diapers a day and has been using the same 15 diapers for the past 14 months.

I'm really out of the loop when it comes to diapers but I've heard some of my coworkers at the office talk about diapers specifically for a girl or a boy. Something about the areas where there's more padding.
Is this something new?

Cloth diapers rock! My oldest was the only one I didn't use cloth with and that was back in 1985 when disposables were about as bulky as cloth and less absorbant - they didn't even have elastic at the leg holes back then so half the time the pee just ran out the leg opening

For the next four kids I used cloth - by the time I had my fifth child in 2000, the WAHM diaper business was booming and boy did my DD have some adorable cloth diapers and diaper covers!

You know I agree!! I love putting my daughter in cloth, I am so happy to be keeping all those chemicals away from her little parts as well as keeping dipes out of the landfill.

And I love seeing a line fill of diapers blowing in the breeze.

And she looks so adorable!
