Thumbs up Last Night's Shuttle Launch As Seen From My Backyard.

We live about 90 miles from the Cape. As long as the sky is mostly cloud free, we always get a good view. Last night, with the sun setting, the view was amazing.

The Shuttle clearing the horizon.

The sun starts to light up the contrail.

If you look carefully, on the left top of this photo is the shuttle. On the bottom right are two pin point dots which are the booster rockets falling away. This is the first time I've been able to see that from here.

That tiny white dot on the left is the shuttle as it heads off to the Space Station.

Even though I've seen quite a few of these launches since we moved here, every one of them is a thrill.

I watched the video of the launch. AMAZING !!!.. As I sat there watching this I kept thinking wow man can put people into space but cant cure the common cold. seems odd doesn't it... It took just under 9 Min's to reach orbit. I wonder what it must be like to be on a space shuttle. You took really nice pictures of the shuttle. Wish I lived closer to be able to view a launch.

here's the video I watched.

A woman I talked to on another board who lives about 10 miles from me took this video.

YouTube - 3-15-09 Space Shuttle Launch

That's about the same view I had.
