Bathing Suits

It's getting to be that time...especially for those doing spring break trips!

What kind of bathing suit do you wear - in public? in the backyard?
Where do you find suits that you like and that like you?
Are you bathing suit-challenged?

Bathing suit-challenged..ha ha..I like this term. That is totally me. I buy them, try them on and never leave my bathroom with them on. I feel too naked/exposed. I have some cute bikinis from VS for someday when I am brave.

I had bought a beautiful suit from JCPenneys last year on clearance, got it home and it was too small. It's one of those slim suits, and apparently I had too much to slim!! LOL

BUT, I've lost 25 lbs since Christmas and it fits great!! I will be wearing it in Fl. in two weeks and I'm so excited. It is the same suit I will wear all summer. No two pieces here. I'm strictly a one peice kinda gal!

Great topic!

Of course, I was supposed to have been more ready for the season.

So I guess I'll be buying the usual - dark bathing suit with lots of "forgiveness" built in...

CJ, I LOVE the image! So inspiring!

I'm too fat to be wearing a bathing suit anywhere.

I just ordered tankini seperates from Lands End yesterday.....we'll see how that works out. I liked that I could get a DD top and a smaller bottom. Never thought about the pee issue...I've taken to just pulling the crotch of the suit out of the way instead of taking the suit off....that takes too long when I gotta go!

I am one of those "thick" people....so there's certain styles that I feel are more flattering and/or help slenderize the mid-section (create a waist where there is none...lol). I tend to like suits like this:

I will wear a two piece out on the back deck though. I will not answer the door if it rings however.

Oh my the things we learn that other people do that we thought was a secret about our own doings.

I buy my bathing suit at (cough) walmart.I have shopped at the beach stores here and let me tell ya they are not by any meaning of the word cheap. The last suit I looked at was 90.00 !!. I found the same suit almost at walmart for 32.00. I could buy 3 for the price of 1. I buy the swim dress or the tank bikini.
way too old to show my belly button LOL.

Would you mind sharing the name of your tailor?

Seriously, I would like one of the old fashioned ones that was a long sleeve dress with leggings and a hat. That should pretty much cover all the faults.

Pregnancy left me with stretch marks on my *thighs*, but my belly's pretty well the same as it was (not exactly flat, but no worse than before!), so I'm looking for a skirted bottom, and somewhat sturdy bikini top. That's for the backyard. I have a very full coverage tankini top and skirted bottoms for when the inlaws are over.

What kind of bathing suit do you wear? I like tankinis...I got a black one last year from JC Penney and I love it. I also have two one piece bathing suits...a brown one and a black/white one.

Where do you find suits that you like and that like you? Dillards, JC Penney, Kohls.

Are you bathing suit-challenged? Most definitely!

I have a 2-piece I purchased a few years ago at JCPenney. On clearance, LOL (like anything less would be expected.... ).

It has a tankini top, with a boy cut bottom. It is cute. Fashionable enough, but covers enough at the same time.

I'm a bit of an apple(big girls and no booty) so I need thick straps and full coverage, but don't need the skirt like if you are pear shaped. I usually go for a black or navy one piece. My favorite one recently I found on clearance at Fred Meyer for $5. Wooohooo! It looked very similar to this:

I have a few two piece suits that I wear to the lakewhen we go to camp (when its just family). My sister in laws also wear their two piece suits. I think we are at an age that we just want to relax, have fun and not worry about how we look. Of course, me being me...I can't stand my belly. Doesn't matter if I weight 145 or 120, I still have a belly. It is what it is...

It depends for me. We have a lakehouse, so we are on the lake pretty much every weekend. I have two pieces and 1 pieces - just depends on who is with us. I'm feeling fat this year, though, so I'll probably be pulling out the 1 piece with cute little cover-ups...

I wear 2 piece suits with either a sarong or cute skirt. Its so hard to find DD tops when you have a medium bottom.

You ought to try shopping with a 15 yr old that's a DD and she's modest. No plunging necklines or v-necks or high cut leg openings. Last year she wanted a tankini. I found a really cute one piece and finally convinced her to try it on. She loved it!

Lands End all the way, they have so many to choose from and you can buy separates so they fit right. I know the price is high, but I think it is so worth it, I usually wait till they go on clearance to buy them, much cheaper.
I also work for a department store and help woman find suits, and what I have learned from this is that every woman, no matter what size, is not happy when it comes to finding (and trying on) a bathing suit.
